to be honest my true motives were to bump the thread but honestly it's just one of those rules in English that exist but tend to be rather loosely followed. If I remember correctly the tradition emerged from a practice of emulating Latin's sentence structure which never had prepositions at the end, because in Latin the word order affected meaning. It isn't calle a "Pre-position" for nothing after all.
If OP were being proper he would say "where are you?" or "which are you?"/"where on this are you?" making more sense in this context I think
