The Cold War started in 2010, which is why Nato has set up bases in the immediate vicinity of Russia. Realistically, it will come to a dispute between the West and Russia that is inevitable. Chinese are pragmatic they will not go to war but negotiate. Iran is only loud as long as it has Russia behind it. Russians are players, Russians like to risk because they are less pragmatic.

Plus there is only one way in or out and it will be mined, and heavily defended by Iranian Anti-Ship Missiles. It will take weeks to clear the area to allow a carrier to exit the Persian Gulf.
