>The death of Gareth Williams, a British spy who was found naked in a padlocked duffel bag in his bathtub, has remained a mystery for five years. >Boris Karpichkov, who used to work for the KGB, rising to the rank of major, told the Daily Mirror that sources in Russia claimed the country's successor to the KGB, the SVR intelligence service, was behind the murder. >laiming Williams had been **killed by an untraceable poison introduced in his ear**, Karpichkov, who lives in the same part of London where Williams used to, said he used to see Russian diplomatic cars in the area and that he had not seen them since Williams' death.
Russians have been poisoning people on UK soil since 2010.
When a spy gets killed on his own home turf it is a big deal.

>treating spying like it was a 9-to-5 job >convincing a hopeless rube to betray his country at 2 and be at the pub for a pint by 4 This is silliness.

Because it's incredibly unusual for such events to get so much public press. Usually if a spy disappears, he "disappears" and that's that. It's not so public. This is especially being hyped up due to the international attention being paid to Russia these days as a whole, especially with the whole "Muh Putin-Drumf Cheeto!"
>they are quite good. if they were as good as you say you wouldn't hear about jackshit they are doing... pretty much the whole point of their actions is to keep them covered....
This guy doesn't look British, looks Albanian or something, must have been recruited from an old Eastern Block country..

Distraction from bigger things at hand, when you get caught at work doing a shitty job you face the music but before they have the chance to get bollocked you say "but him over theres doing way worse" then all eyes will be on him and not you. >yes the countrys budgets are spiralling out of control and all of the services are strained but big bad russia didnt get us did they?
