huh, i never noticed rei, asuka, and eva girls before

He had it all in her, but never really loved her. It's kinda fucked.

Yeah, and One Punch Man is the best anime since DBZ, right ?

Yes. Now fuck off

What the fuck are you talking about?

Why are you autists so obsessed with this? I have a hard enough time understanding your fixation with kemono friends, but this one takes the cake.

>Feed me with your spoons!

Objection. He didn't take the cake. The whole point of the fucking song.

>vid is simply some animated mental masturbation about otaku thoughts

>MEMEME will be 3 years old in 10 days
Remember when it had its own generals and had to be purged?

You need to watch more anime shorts if you think this is the best.

Name one short from the 10's that is better than Me!Me!Me!. Oh wait, you can't.

What? I thought that shit was already like 10 yo.

lurk for at least 10 years before posting

Shelter

It's not even the best from the expo.

Is that literally the only one you've seen? Shelter is terrible.

Only ones that come close are Sex and Violence and the Cockroach one, and they aren't as thematically interesting.

Furiko

>leaving out kino Obake-chan

I was there before your biological father inceminated your mother's womb.

おばけちゃん and 西荻窪 are both ten times as good as all of those combined.

So guy is mourning a break up
And then he indulges in random girls
Everything is cute and bubbly
But then everything gets real dark
The girls become more lustful
He wakes up to escape
But predatory female follows him
As he's being eaten he remembers his gf
All the good times
All the feels
Then he suits up to reclaim his masculinity
He's fighting the predatory females
Holding out for the goodness of his ex gf
Only to find out
She's just like all the rest now
He is consumed
He is changed
"Sayonara"

Anything I missed or misconstrued?

>literally just copying the opening sequence of UP with lower framerates

>nobody ever talks about its sequel "Girl"

Because it's not a sequel and sucks?

>西荻窪
That is the cockroach one.

Is that a question?

Does it end with a question mark?

That was close to my first interpretation of it too. Turns out all the girls except his girlfriend were 2D and it's a take on otaku culture in Japan.

Apparently.

People have different tastes? People like fun things? Personally i watched both mememe and kemono friends, and don't quite get why mememe was so popular when it came out. I think it had to do because it was such a weird video and had some lewd

Ooooh!
So they broke up because of vidya
And animu
And all that hikikomori bullshit?

Hmm... perhaps this could analyzed in the context of japan's population decline.

>could analyzed in the context of japan's population decline
Definitely big boy, definitely.

Personally I found it interesting how my interpretation could be so off the mark in comparison to the intended. I made it into some tragic relationship love story when it was all about sexual deviance. There really is a divide in mindsets between Japanese culture and my own despite how much of a weeb I am and I mean that completely non ironically. I don't want to live in Japan or experience the oppressive culture but I thought I had a better insight than most Americans would. Turns out I was dead wrong.

Learn to read idiot.

So what's the point of the post?

It's popular because the animation is fucking good and it has some interesting themes and imagery.

Don't kid me. It's popular because it has plenty of fapping imagery.

Well yeah, it's both.

I Like the music too
My erections are secondary
Sometimes even tertiary
Tertiary boners

It's Sup Forums

post yfw ive seen mememe performed live while wearing the mask and got it signed by both teddyloid and daoko

...

>Crunchyroll

...

Hammerhead

it's kino.

>MEMEME had its own generals
I fucking refuse to believe this. How can anything so stupid and pointless have a general? Was it just literal circlejerking of pornographic fanart?

ME!ME!ME! and Girl OVA when?

Pretty much. Also blogging.

Started off as theories and discussion but devolved into /r9k/lite blogposting and slut h-manga discussion.

>pornographic

you must be 18 to post here

honestly though i have trouble understanding why people get so hung up on this shit. its people like you that gave kill la kill a bad rap. im sorry you cant see past your own stunted libido and repressed mommy complex to see a thought out and well executed deconstruction on the condition of hikikkomori in japan. maybe thats WHY you cant see past it.

>Remember when it had its own generals and had to be purged?

I still have a bunch of caps from those threads. No idea why I bothered to save them.

It's okay to fap to ME!ME!ME!, but only if you fap ironically.

Wanwa the Doggy by FAR is the best short films I've seen from these past ten years. One of the best ever, short or otherwise, Japanese or international, honestly.

dunno man, of beyond, pic related is pretty untouchable

happiness machine is the best overall[/spoiler

>Look at all these interesting shorts from these talented animators
>Ok, now back to making isekaishit all year, every year

>implying any fap is unironic

The guy mentioned the cockroach one as one of his examples, and you said that the cockroach one was better than all of his examples combined.
Call your nurse, blood clots are forming in your skull again.

It's a prequel not a sequel.

I felt it was too enigmatic, maybe trying a bit too hard to achieve incomprehensibility. As far as these kinds of films-as-experiences go, Wanwa is transcendental. It's an artistic and technical achievement in the vein of a Norstein film. An explosion of pure imagination and animation delivered with absolute sincerity.

I don't really understand the context of this.

It's legitimately great but only hold weight if you've been in MC's position.

Which I would argue makes it better, as art, but it has less wide appeal.

It's about anime otaku letting the pursuit of unreal fantasies consume their lives, that's why the eva girls are figurines on his shelf and he has build kits on his desk, to signify that he has interest in anime and related hobbies. The blue haired girl is his idealised anime waifu, and the pink haired was his past girlfriend. He couldn't maintain his relationship with her because of his otaku habits.
You're right about him trying to regain his composure and get his life together, that's when he dons the suit and literally begins fighting back against Meme, the blue-haired manifestation of his otaku vices. But ultimately he loses, and as he is consumed by it, he wakes back up in his bed, looking around his dirty room with all of his merchandise. The video loops. He can't escape.

That's my interpretation at least. There seems to be these two main interpretations, either seeing the video as a commentary on otakuism's destructive side effects and the difficulty of escaping such a lifestyle, or a story about a guy ruining his relationship by chasing after other women. The otaku-oriented interpretation admittedly doesn't explain why a representation of his girlfriend becomes the big final boss lady commanding the flying space vagina ship, though.

2deep4u, but unironically

She's sexier in the dress, gloves and stockings than she is in just the bikini.

It's about 2D girls, there's a MeMe figure box on his desk.

Hana was real though, but she represents both something pure and desirable in his life as well as the source of his depression and what he's trying to escape from. Hana's sexuality is both something he desires and something that causes him pain and eats him up inside because he lost it. In the end, he tries to fight his way out of his depression. Throwing away 2D by itself is easy enough for him, but he still has to deal with the source of his depression, which is Hana. That is too much for him to overcome, and he fails, remembering her goodbye to him. The video ends on the exact same frame as it started and loops; it's a cycle he's trapped in, of trying to escape from his depression and failing.

i watched wanwa last week for the first time in a year or so, and i will say i picked up on some details this time around that i missed before. this time i noticed the backdrops and textures were full of traditional japanese demons and shrine imagery, and it was something that definitely made me appreciate it more. i do think its excellent in its display of a childs dream, and that it achieves its goals.

i can see how Dimension Bomb can be perceived as just an exercise in esotericism and is intentionally cryptic, a mishmash of loud noises and bright imagery against a backdrop of subtlety and mysticism. however, what i felt they were going for was the memory of growing up, as perceived by a person at the edge of death after a long life. as we get older, our memories become more and more befuddled with fiction and our emotional perceptions, and what becomes more important than the facts of the events is the feelings we experienced. the emphasis on contrast is what really hammered this home for me, as she repeats “tempura-ice, suki” and when they display the night and day image with the goat and the cherub, i realized that at the edge of death what stands out in our minds are the moments most contrasted. pain and pleasure, love and lust, hot and cold and all the rest of life is just aimless wandering

/blogpost

Same.
Bad memes get stale quickly.

>t. demo

Doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would get a gf to begin with .

You need to deconstruct the hermaneutics. Or Hermaneut the deconstructions. Or something.

Or just fap, that's fine too. Context really isn't necessary for fapping.

>The otaku-oriented interpretation admittedly doesn't explain why a representation of his girlfriend becomes the big final boss lady commanding the flying space vagina ship, though.

Because she and her sexuality are the source of his depression, or because that same sexuality feels unapprochable to him now. Real girls are intimidating and bring pain with them, to chase them is to do battle, and it's much easier to give up and be consumed by your 2D habits

That's what speaks to me, anyways. There's some smart work in making some of it vauge enough that the viewer is likely to fill in their own experiences, but I think this is supported by the work.

> is literally just the representation of the protaganist's obsession with cute anime girl

> still a better than 80 % of anime girls the last 5 years

how did they do it lads

The reality is that anime nerds fuck like rabbits, and some of them are even fairly normal looking, but many of them still harbor much of the same insecurities and social issues and are absolutely susceptible to falling down this same rabbit hole with the rest of us.

Did you guys like the live-action adaptation of ME!ME!ME!?

>Real girls are intimidating and bring pain with them, to chase them is to do battle

Ayup, been there done that. Now I'm a virgin in my 40's.

>The reality is that anime nerds fuck like rabbits
No they don't

>hurr durr it just fapbait

This is the dumbest fucking argument ever made every time it's brought up. You could argue that it failed to do something else, but to suggest that it never tried to do something else is nothing short of willfull ignorance. There is pleeenty of shit to whack it to out there but Me!Me!Me! gets the recognition it does because of other stuff (in cknjunction with anime titties).

I'm glad they didn't shy away from overt sexuality when making it, despite the fact that it brings comments like this, and I think it would have been less impactful if it did.

I thought of MeMeMe at that scene too, the colours are the same and everything.
Seems like Sup Forums as a whole is fixated on that scene where everyone else only wants to talk about the hologram/prostitute sex scene.

youd be surprised. my house is literally plastered in wallscrolls and i have figs on every shelf, my project table is covered in gunpla. as long as your not /r9k/ levels of autism and just own it, most people (girls included) dont really care. even about shit like pic related

t. never heard of a convention

Not everyone's part of it but there's a whole fetish community worth of shit under the surface there. Legitimate orgies full of fat, sweaty social rejects all desperate for the touch of another human. People being led around on collars, vendors openly selling BDSM gear, etc.

You might be right OP. I don’t think we’ve had one nearly as g......

m.youtube.com/watch?v=fzQ6gRAEoy0

That's a load of crap
If it were true the alt right wouldn't be a thing

That is unquestionably the most iconic scene of the film, and has the most to unpack. In a film that made a lot of things overt, this was fairly unclear, and I think that was on purpose. It introduces strong doubt, but there's still uncertainty about Joi's true nature.

It's being used in a very different way but I don't think it's a stretch to say that this scene was inspired somewhat by Me!Me!Me!

maybe you dont

Literally anyone can get a gf user, as long as you have somewhat decent hygene and aren't hideously deformed.

Given that the director is a weeb it's very possible he took some inspiration from ME!ME!ME!

>circumcision went wrong

Dammit, girls can never find out.

Not sure what it has to do with politic shit but it's 100% true and obvious to anyone who's there.

True art ignores the lowest common denominator of its consumerbase as a necessity. It is from that lowest common denominator that comments such as "it's just porn, what's the big deal?" sprout from.
I too appreciatedly that Me!Me!Me! embraced an overtly sexual aesthetic, it added to the experience overall.

>inb4 vaginal pasta

That's a small part of it and not really representative of the group
Its like how everyone associated furries with fursuiters
