at my high school here in florida, honors classes add an automatic .5 to your GPA and AP added an automatic 1.0 so theoretically, if you aced all AP classes all year, you could graduate with a 5.0. it was total bullshit
even stupider was when i transferred in, they didn't want to count any credits from outside florida curriculum. they considered all my classes, honors or not, as standard or even remedial, and required me to retake some courses because they didn't want to accept them. i went from being near the top of my old high school to one of the bottom since nearly everyone had those inflated GPAs.
I saw him tweeting about getting rejected from all these shit schools. I thought FOR SURE his dream schools were Harvard and Stanford. I think the school he's obsessed with is Berkeley. But this week he was rejected from even shittier UC campuses

i actually got a full ride to uni based almost solely on my SAT and ACT scores. they matter, but only if you have top tier that said, only a few schools i looked at considered them. i tried applying to some top tier schools and they completely rejected because they saw class rank as more important than test scores (actually even more important was meeting diversity quotas and as a FUCKING WHITE MALE i didn't make the cut)
