No. But that is okay, because the West stopped being worth anything in the 60s and is currently working extremely hard on making itself disappear.
One might just argue that with just the right bit of cultural shove the West could become a sort of ideal for Eastern Europe to try to live up to, to try and preserve its best qualities, but one whose mistakes they will not repeat.

Is Latin America part of the West? South Africa?

Define West? Europe is complex, but you know that.

In the face of Russian aggression I would imagine so anyhow

Does they belive in liberal values, free markets, free press, arts and culture, sport, democracy and other pillars of the Western world?

>from uk
>says "does they"
Is this the chav accent?

>No. But that is okay, because the West stopped being worth anything in the 60s and is currently working extremely hard on making itself disappear.
What happened then?

I was thinking of pic related.

>Is this the chav accent?
Not bad, Bristolian and we prefer to use plural
>Where's they off to
>i's likes that
>i don'ts know

Small wonder we are the butt of all the farmer and inbred jokes in the UK
youtube.com/watch?v=5pcFcnJKWlg

Haha no way!

I didnt even see your post i was watching the vid lamo, you must know Bristol then to pick that up desu

Lol funny. No, I've just watched Little Britain.

Wait, that's a bit creepy now i'm thinking about it, how do you know i'm from Bristol?!

Sexual liberation/the pill, and thus the real beginning of the current culture war. The UK in particular could have done very well after the shitshow that was the 50s and its pseudo-socialism, but failed to pivot and mount a proper stand against leftism, still reeling from WW2. The Frenchies fucked up with the student revolts and Sartre's garbage ate away at foundational structures to be replaced with relativism and postmoderrnism. Foucault's main work was in this period and was the ideal modern academics still try to emulate. And of course, not only did politics and academic views turn away from the values that maintained the West, the baseline production industry and sheer economic might of the West as a whole really got fucked in this decade.

The accent he does for Vicky is too close for comfort, he nails it.
You've watched all black Adders and Fast show, Peep show Brass eye, Young ones Only Fools and horses ?

No

>liberal values
Are cancer.
> free markets
No such thing in real life. Same fantasy as communism.
>(((free press))), (((arts))) and (((culture)))
>sport
When sport became exclusively western?
>democracy
Again, no such thing in real life. Whatever you call "democracy" - is not a democracy.

Today western means jewry, faggotry, degeneracy, hypocrisy and other bullshit. Why would anyone want to be part of it?

They your learning begins now.

Peep Show
Blackadder
Fast Show
In that order.

How can the east be part of the west swedey?
Do you mean the developed world.
Kind of.
First world literally meant NATO
second wirld meant Soviet and Sino spheres
Third world meant unaligned
It's not a league table but it does function as one of you like.
The non sneaky putin troll Russians who aren't slyly posting under our colours to shit up our board on purpose are okay.
Nearest thing to us. But not quite.

Still butt sore from being denied entry into official Europe?
There's a vacancy coming up. Apply again and take our place. You'll be enriched and destroyed though.

>How can the east be part of the west swedey?
Western World. Australia is East of Poland.

I get why you're upset. Ukraine is a geopolitical hotspot like Turkey and Korea. No matter what side you're on you will always have friction, and unfortunately your neighbour is Putin and his mafia kleptocracy whose people have it just as bad as you

>Are cancer.
not when you think about it
>No such thing in real life. Same fantasy as communism.
dont confuse the two, one works the other does not.
>When sport became exclusively western?
During the British Empire.
>Today western means jewry, faggotry, degeneracy, hypocrisy and other bullshit. Why would anyone want to be part of it?
user If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything

>Still butt sore from being denied entry into official Europe?
They should have just fudged the numbers like Greece and Ireland.

No.

Bad goy.

What about Germany? Since a part of it used to be part of the communist bloc.

...and which one won?

50-50 yes and no, you export the worst of your shit to us, some of the shit you export to us is good but that is mostly just tech and goods, your cultural values are 98% garbage! I would argue Islam is better but probz only Iran level islam the other islam is ofc worse then even the degeneracy of the WEEEST..

shit looks fake, but if it's not I wouldn't be surprised uk is a top competitor in the degenerate and give away your culture olympics!

...

don't worry cuckland you are also a qualifier in the cuck olympiad! keep importing Akhmed and Mohammeds and you may even catch up to Swedistan! best of luck!

Don't know. But why does it matter, if Eastern Europe isn't part of the West?

I read a little of the beginning of the book The New Totalitarians by Roland Huntford. He claimed Sweden was "isolated, inbred and incompletely western".

Attached: Screenshot.png (399x370, 53K)

>the West stopped being worth anything in 1918
Fixed that for you. Except for you and France which destroyed yourselves of your own volition in the 19th century.

The west used to mean the civilization that was culturally and historically influenced by the ancient greeks, romans and European nations, so by archaic definitions, yes they used to be western civilization.
However... "the west" currently is used to refer the neoliberal socially progressivist aligned countries in western and Northern Europe and North America.
So no, they're not.

Attached: IMG_1587.png (335x402, 119K)

Sweden is about as west as you can fucking get you fuckers are 1. rich 2. jewed up 3. multicultural hell hole 4. cucks

Point being maybe Germany too is "incompletely Western" if half of the country used to be communist, just like Poland etc.

based BOLIVIA poster

Well, don't know if it was half but still, I meant a part of the country.

looking at the state of the West today thank god we are not

This is the only definition that matters

>Christian
>Alphabet based on Greek
>Tsar saw themselves as spiritual successors to Rome
>First leaders were literally Vikings
Yes, whether you want to admit it or not.

Consider this, north and south.

>Eastern Europe
Russia is not eastern Europe, though. We're way more Asian than you INCORRECTLY think/believe.
If going by percentage, I'd say we're roughly 55% Asian, 15% southerner, and only 30% European. And it's not about ethnicity, but rather cultural preferences.

Fucking this, I hate when someone calls us "Europe" or "white", it sounds like an insult at this point in history.

yes. and anyone who thinks otherwise doesnt know their history. what we think of as "western culture" comes from the greeks and romans. russia is literally the third rome. their language comes from greeks and their culture comes from the eastern roman empire. they ARE white

Attached: 1521402612415.jpg (197x255, 9K)

Neck yourself immediately, in a board invaded by retards you stand out as the stupidest person I have ever encountered in my many years of lurking

go fuck yourself butthurt post-soviet

At least I don't post three sentences full of the most retarded, uneducated, uninformed crap ever posted on this board.

prove that anything i said is wrong. oh you cant? didnt think so

>their language comes from gre-
lost ya there senpai. you're a fucking dipshit.

im talking about the written language obviously. cyrillic is based on greek. are you children going to take your autism meds today?

It is. But barely.

I think I might travel to Eastern Europe this summer. What's the best place to go?

>what we think of as "western culture" comes from the greeks and romans
Utterly retarded and false. The only "western culture" that borrows from Rome is that of christianity, which in order to succeed was based on basic Roman values of the family unit. Their national pride, ethnic pride, way of dealing with outsiders (no, not le based nazi way), sense of community and many others only ever managed to survive in France and Britain in the West and were already dead by the 1700s, since colonialism and imperialism killed a lot of what Rome had imparted there.

>russia is literally the third rome
There is quite literally nothing Roman about Russia, compounded by the simple fact Russia is one of the very few big nations in the world NOT impacted heavily by Rome. It has a long, drawn out history that is completely separate and is least influenced by Roman tradition than any other society in the world but the Chinese, possibly.

>their language comes from greeks
Utterly and objectively false, it comes from us. Even the argument that it comes from FYROM, because it was accepted in Skopje (which still was in Bulgaria) is less retarded than yours. Hitler was austrian, does that make the Third Reich austrian? Does it make nazism austrian? No it fucking doesn't. Even if Cyril and Methodius were born in Greece, we accepted their language, made it our own and spread it.

>their culture comes from the eastern roman empire
This is your most retarded claim, by far. Byzantine influence never spread north, mostly because WE were the fucking crossroads between Byzantine and Rus culture. Byzantine influence never spread much more north and the old provinces and kingdoms of Russia never came this much south. There's more Rus invasions south than vice versa and Byzantine's never ever bothered going north of Crimea.

Depends, what do you want to do? How many days? With friends? Are you a sissy, whats your perception of the East, etc. etc.

There is no "best place". But every place here has its strengths.

I've learned in school it's called second world..

First world: western Europe
Second world: eastern Europe
Third world: Africa and poo in the loo countries

>WE WUZ KANGZ
lol imagine being this irrelevant

and western culture absolutely comes from the greeks and romans. do you attribute western culture to barbarian tribes of celts, goths and picts? they didnt even know basic sanitation until rome civilized them

I think an argument can be made that byzantine culture survives in russia thanks to the orthodox church.

I think that it's traditions are similar to folk ways in the west too. I think this has survived due to no hippie shit in higher ed and media

>WE WUZ KANGZ
There is jack fucking shit about this in my post, aside from the perfectly reasonable claim cyrillic comes from my country, which is the fucking objective truth and nobody has ever disputed this. Aside from yeh, FYROM, who even kinda officially conceded their claim is pretty stupid.

>they didnt even know basic sanitation until rome civilized them
There is a massive gap between technology and culture, even if one influences the other.

>and western culture absolutely comes from the greeks and romans. do you attribute western culture to barbarian tribes of celts, goths and picts?

As a matter of fact, modern western culture is more reminiscent of yes, celts, goths and picts than it is of Romans. Rome had very strong values of family, community and state, where it was rarely questioned what was necessary to maintain order and civilization. Foreign nations were approached extremely practically - there was no genocide or hostility above that which was necessary to achieve a favorable state. Citizenship was a key honor and "giving back" to the state was absolutely crucial to a Roman. A lot of these values are non-existent in the west. For example colonialism shows it perfectly, as it is utterly and completely different from the imperialism Rome practiced. In contrast, modern west society has accepted many of the values and morals that belonged to the local tribes in times past.

Do you even know what the fuck "roman" is? Because Rome was many different worlds, their British and what is now called "west" colonies had a completely and utterly different culture from Rome itself.

>I think an argument can be made that byzantine culture survives in russia thanks to the orthodox church

Bullshit, orthodoxy is heavily influenced by the local situation in Russia. You can at best claim there is some influence in family values amongst Russians from the church. A lot of the rest can be traced to other sources.

I just want to do something easy/simple and cheap, a few days or a week. Alone. I'm thinking this is a good plan because I haven't traveled a lot so it could perhaps be a way to get your feet wet. I might buy a ticket for a budget airline and then stay at a cheap hotel and then just wonder around. These are the destinations of Wizz Air from Stockholm.

It's funny, I opened Google maps, zoomed into Bucharest city center, one of the first things I see: "Jewish neighborhood".

Alexander Nevsky gives you an answer

Дa! Moй швeдcкий бpaт! Пepeйди нa Oнeжcкoe Oзepo.

If you've not travelled much, just do something vanilla as fuck like Prague or Budapest (I see Prague has no flights, which is weird). Bucharest is meh, it's certainly worth seeing but not worth going out of your way to see.

Check Ryanair, wizzair is fucking shit nowadays anyway. Ryanair has gone heavy in the East and there's flights EVERYWHERE. Plus it's cheaper.

If you're going for the summer, Croatia has a pretty good seaside.

If you want to wander around and see different places, you should really consider renting a car. Buses between places around here can be a little shit, especially if you want to see historic sites.

Couple of places and things for those places worth considering:

>Places like Warsaw or other big cities are pretty cool, but quickly dry up of things to do after a few days - consider short city trips or staying for 2-3 days in one and then moving to another city
>places like Transylvania and the carpathians in general are nice, but require a lot of planning to do properly since transport is a bitch
>Budapest is awesome, but can get too tourist-y in the summer especially
>if you're coming to the Balkans avoid Bosnia, it's not that it's that shit, but it's not so great to travel to
>Albania is a no-no unless you know one of those new fancy resorts they make entirely for foreigners
>Serbia can be a little boring, Belgrade is an awesome city but there's very little to do anywhere else
>Croatia is a BITCH to travel through if you plan to visit the country as a whole - however, Zagreb is a cool city, the countryside is nice and the seaside is awesome
>Romania outside of Bucharest and a few nice places can get a little..uncivilized

And for my own country, in another post

We were literally an ally of the soviets you moron, there were jokes in the commie block about us being way too friendly with them

Why do you americans feel the need to spout your retarded uneducated opinion backed by nothing and then feel no shame when someone who knows what they're talking about comes and tells you you're wrong? And then you keep arguing...

yes user jews still exist in Eastern Europe compare numbers of post 45 and before and you will see a big difference
also that is the capital almost all were sold back to israel

For Bulgaria:

>Sofia is recently very tourist-y and is magnificent for a three-day visit, but avoid heats in the summer since its a valley and can get stuffy as all fuck
>the biggest few towns are full of history and tourism and every one of them is worth a 1-2 day visit (at most)
>a car will massively improve your time here
>some research will also massively improve your time here
>expect really bad service at certain places - this is true for much of the East, except probably croats
>avoid seaside resorts, they are pure unfiltered shit
>Varna is the only place you, as a foreigner, should bother checking out on the seaside - there's a lot of nice, little known spots, but not to a non-experienced foreigner
>the mountains are wonderful in the summer, not too hot and nature is at its greatest - but totally impregnable unless you have a car

That's about what I can think of. Let me know if you wanna ask some shit, I travel a lot.

Orthodoxy is not globalist like romancatholicism or cucktestanity, it always has local character. It allows nationalism
Russia is Third Rome, they are the biggest guardian of the only true way of Christanity.

>Russia is Third Rome
byzantine empire

Byzantine Empire is the Second Rome

Attached: byzant.jpg (566x542, 129K)

It’s not considered the west but it is part of Europe. Part of Russia is in Europe and that’s really the only part that matters because the rest of it is mostly unpopulated Siberian tundra

Byzantine empire is an invention of historians. They were just Rome (and also sometimes Greeks)

Tibetan Buddhism? What the fuck?

>Orthodoxy is not globalist like romancatholicism or cucktestanity, it always has local character. It allows nationalism
>Russia is Third Rome

Those two basically contradict each other. You are completely correct on saying orthodoxy has a local, national character, which also means that Russian culture is not influenced as heavily by it. So in the end, Russian culture is its own thing, since nothing but the religion spread north.

>they are the biggest guardian of the only true way of Christanity.

Ehhhhhh

Sure, why the hell not.

>Byzantine empire is an invention of historians. They were just Rome

Well holy shit, you're like the third american within the hour to open his mouth and pour literal shit on this thread. Why do you people feel you can be utterly uneducated and yet hold opinions you don't allow contradiction of? It's like if I went up to a surgeon, told him how to do a surgery and never accepted I might be wrong.
