Yes. Before 2007 Great recession Everything was better and stable. Things haven't recovered yet after a decade.

3 major things happened post 2007
1>online internet piracy boom thanks to fast bandwidth internet access to everyone
2>world economy recession that damaged already fragile Anime Industry
3> 16:9 HD resolution bump from 4:3
This effected everything including anime, gaming, movies.

yes

But why doesn't anyone make /comfykino/ anymore?

No studio wants to go Bankrupt.

Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryoukou is comfykino.

The effects were only visible from 2009 onward though. 2007/2008 were fantastic years year for anime.

>1>online internet piracy boom thanks to fast bandwidth internet access to everyone
How did that affect the anime industry?
>3> 16:9 HD resolution bump from 4:3
I doubt that the aspect ratio change was bigger than the change in detail.
>This effected everything including anime, gaming, movies.
*affected

The Japanese recession began before that point.

>Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryoukou

Sounds like pure winterkino. I like it.

No it's not

Yeah it is

I don't speak Japanese. What does it say?

There have been many studies, and most of them with the same result.

It was the time of the anime bubble. Remember how popular shows like Haruhi and Lucky Star were, even among the mainstream crowd? I wouldn't call it comfy but it was a better time.

It was the end of the comfy era for the nerds.
It was the second coming of the eternal September. (and I'm one of the people that started using Sup Forums around that time, so I'm part of the worst generation).

If anything piracy in Japan has significantly gone down since 2007. Pre-2010 Japanese p2p was actually pretty good, now it's more or less dead and only the most recent things get uploaded on share/PD and the DL numbers atleast on PD is in the low thousands at most.
Most Japanese people are streamfags now.
