Clannad

Is it worth watching?

Keyshit adaptations are the only KyoAni shows i didnt watch. Not sure if its worth to pick up, since hated just about every thing Key (AngelShits, CuntBusters, Planetarium etc.)

...

Theres a reason many people list it as their favorite. Also, S1 is the appetizer and S2 is the main dish. Is it worth watching? Yes. Even if you wont like it, you can still participate in Clannad thread and shitpost.

Are you new to anime?

Pretty new, i only started watching it actively in the 80th so missed the golden era.

>S1 is the appetizer
S1 is your basic harem romcom, nagisa's father is the only character that stands out

Absolutely not worth watching.
Key novels are really worth playing/reading and just generally not good watching. If you didn't like Little Busters, which is superior to Clannad in many respects I'd say give it a pass.

You have to go through 20 hours of shit to get to the good part, but that's better than reading the VN and going through 80 hours of shit for the good part.

>If you didn't like Little Busters, which is superior to Clannad in many respects

Good taste user

I didn't like it but I suggest you watch it

Always read the source material first.

You have willingly skipped the best adaptations from the best studio?
Are you autistic?

>reading key shit
the only reason to give it a chance in first place is because its KyoAni and directed by Ishihara

Despite what people say, if you're not that into moe, S1 could be a pain in the ass. But even considering that, it's worth watching just for After Story.

all of the non-maeda routes in Clannad are mediocre to bad

Key shit is key shit. There were not a single good VN adaptation to date of anything, at all, (despite Steins;Shit and other fags thinking otherwise) - and Key in general is even shittier than Citrus. At least Da Capo was entertaining.

I don't disagree with you if you say that in VN format, but for anime format KeyAni anime are absolutely better than non-Key anime.
Definitely a good shot to watch if you like kyoAni anime. This is one of anime that shape kyoAni's story direction to what we know to day especially when Ishihara is the director.

Watching VN adaptations is rarely worth it because they're always like 100x compressed in time. Read the source material if you want.

>non-Key anime
I meant the one who aren't animated by kyoAni.

Watching VN adaptations is rarely worth it because 110% of VNs are shit. Reading VNs for anything than porn is waste of your braincells.

Clannad is the exception, it cuts out all the shitty routes by hack writers that you're forced to play through in the VN to get to AS.

This.
Its worth watching in a sense that you already watch an essential series.

Kanon and Air are good, Clannad and everything after it is shit

no

There's a few exceptions and I don't know about Clannad specifically because I've watched the anime (didn't really like it) but not read the source material

>watch an essential series.
I dont watch anime to boost my nonexistant MAL profile or be an expert in it. I forgotten more anime that other people watched already. I watch it to enjoy it. So the question is - is it enjoyable to watch? Would it be running season i`d give it few episodes to determine, but at this point i am too lazy and only reason to check it, is being KyoAni (which, given Munto is not guarantee it`ll be great and everything from Key so far was disappointment)

Shity VNs are still much better than your average anime season to season.

>watching key shit
Don't read it if you think it bad but watching it is much worse.

shitty VNs are complete garbage my man, I don't think you know what the VN industry is like. The vast majority of VNs are even worse than your average battle harem LNshit anime. The good - shit ratio in VNs is 10x worse than anime which is already pretty bad.

If you don't like the anime, probably you just dislike Key plot in general. Since Clannad is arguably the best Key adaptation anime in term of the length and the quality itself. Everything but Clannad and Kanon 2006 have shit adaptation.
There's Key VN with non-Key element since Maeda doesn't write it, named Rewrite, I prefer it over other Key VNs but shame the adaptation was shit.

Japan is lucky to produce a single show or two a season that isn't complete garbage. We obviously only get a small fraction of the VNs nips put out every year but there is a reason those get translated. They aren't complete shit like the rest of them. Written product coming out of Japan that we end up getting access to ends up being much better on average.

Exactly, you only know VNs from English releases and don't actually know anything about the eroge industry. Probably a good 90% of eroge are rehashed dating sims with garbage cliche dialogue. VNs that even attempt anything ambitious are extremely rare. The diversity in the current anime season alone puts an entire year of the eroge industry to shame.

I read Rewrite and I liked that, for what it's worth.

It's not like I thought Clannad was bad or anything, it's just that I don't remember much about it because there's so much drama in such a short time frame and there's not enough time to make you really connect with the characters. I felt like that's mostly an anime problem but I don't know.

I'm gonna read Little Busters once I finish subahibi and see if it's just a problem I have with Key or what

It has some silly high school hijinxs in the beginning but goes full serious drama with some supernatural deus ex. It's great, it's about growing up to adulthood and caring for family.

Nagisa A SHIT
