I grew up in the city myself and most city natives are not religious, but certainly don't care enough about religion to bring it up let alone make their entire life about mocking it. We're just indifferent.
Meanwhile the people who filter in here from the country always have this enormous chip on their shoulder and can never shut up about how stupid the people in their hometown were, blah blah, such ignorant sheeple et cetera. It doesn't take long to realize why nobody liked them in their hometown and for some reason atheism became a refuge, an easy way of claiming intellectual superiority over a community they had no other value to.
