just a few times. Trying to not do it. In about six months, I've gone from not knowing shit about anime to buying all of Lum and Maison Ikkoku mangas and a couple of figures. I read one chapter of each every night before going to sleep, and watch the anime the next morning before class. Keeps me alive. I'm almost done with Maison Ikkoku. Lum is great as a character, but the show itself doesn't appeal to me so much as the other one. Dont know what I'm going to do

OVA 1 & 2 are recaps that don't need to be watched (the first one has redone animation + a mini story though).
Watch the rest, including all the movies.

Movie 1 is average, Movie 2 is Great.
Movie 3 is pretty weak. It's a comedy that's just not very funny. The ending is good though.
Movie 4 is very divisive. It's similar to Movie 2 in some ways (mystery involving just the core cast, with no movie guest characters driving the plot), but the answer to everything is much more convoluted and the director deliberately removed an exposition scene in order to leave it more ambiguous.
Movie 5 is the manga ending, it's decent, but doesn't work that well in the context of the anime (the whole conflict is caused by Ataru never showing a proof of his love for Lum in the manga, which doesn't work for the anime where they've even kissed).
Movie 6 is pretty throw away. It's funnier than Movie 3, but the characters are extremely one dimensional here.
The OVAs are mostly worth watching aside from the recaps. Some of the later ones have inconsistent animation quality though.
