The character for Silver Fox was quite different in the anime really.

Game Silver Fox and Anime Silver Fox are two completely seperate people in the KF universe.

Technically it's not confirmed that the other models are canon still. They were in the game, but the text about them in the anime guide is explicitly from a production point of view, rather than referencing them in-universe.

It's kind of a bad situation either way.

You can get some possibly terrible Kemono Friends goods from Famima and further commercialisation when people are angry and don't want KFP to be making money until the situation is resolved.

Or you get a situation like this which seems to be embarrassing to Kemono Friends as a franchise and possibly damaging to its future to some degree. And then you have people voting because they think it would be funny to see Kemono Friends lose.

Famima really didn't seem to understand the situation very well. If the advert they made before was done using the anime models Kemono Friends would have won.

KF as a franchise was never originally for kids, but its popularity and the family friendly nature of the show put it on kid's channels.
