First part of Arc-V and until the Friendship Cup was legit entertaining. Everything that came after was entertaining because of the schadenfreude, like watching an oil tanker crash into a gas station between an orphanage and a fireworks factory.

The Sup Forums livestream threads helped make it much better, but not all of the episodes were that bad.

Konami lets NAS deal with actually making the anime. They're the ones responsible for making sure it gets made, like choosing studios and teams to hire and dealing with the scheduling and marketing. So it's their fault more than Konami's, probably.

DSOD's production ended right before Arc-V started to tank, though (the start of Xyz arc). No one's allowed to use DSOD as an excuse for why Arc-V was the biggest garbage fire to ever grace nicovideo.

They got used so used to outsourcing that it backfired really hard when all those studios left. They are even struggling with CGI since Vrains is practically all homemade, the project just got caught in the worst transition ever. I'm more surprised that they hold it together without being a total mess.

Vrains will take off when yusei and crow are revealed to be the masterminds.

Even the superstar studios have had ups and downs in their rate of production, the sane option would've been to just take a season off for the sake of the animators they do have. That wouldn't have made Konami happy, but burning out the few people they have left isn't sustainable anyway.

Any thoughts on Noh Gil-Bo's art/animation work and style?

He does so much work for the show I wonder how much further production would fall apart if he just up and left like Ebina

That was only partially his work, since he had 2 assistants for that episode. It's obvious that if he actually has time he does some nice looking episodes, but Vrains seems to have none. It doesn't really matter at this point how good even the veteran ADs are (Noh, Kuwamara and Yokota) if they're rushed to hell and back with deadlines

I can't believe talking about the production of a shitty series and the fallout of animation labor because of one man's incompetence of another shitty series is alot more interesting than all of Yugioh VCAP.

Acts 1 and 2 might be easy but pulling off a good climax and ending is genuinely difficult, which is why so many anime just tumble and/or go off the rails at the third.

That said, maybe they should just end Vrains early (or put in on a season break) and sort their shit out on the production side, and then come back with an anime they genuinely believe in (in terms of selling franchise merch, at least). There's no need to kill off the few loyal Yugioh employees left at Studio Gallop through overwork

All I'm saying is that Noh only did part of the Go episode himself, and the rest was directed by the assistant ADs. It was lackluster compared to Noh's past episodes because every animator's work is being rushed, even if they're quite competent under normal conditions.

He started as a key animator in GX and became an animation director in late 5D's (the first or second part of Yusei vs Aporia in the WRGP), according to the jap wiki. It was the episode where Yusei kept banishing and reviving Jack and Crow's dragons for wombo combos

But my nigga, their first two acts are borderline filler and the worst start to a Yugioh series bar none. All it needed was

>More characters that actually duel, at least three more main characters
>Give those characters memorable personalities
>Cut the ugly characters out immediately
>Decent OST
>Where's the damn interaction?
>Give the atmosphere a more sinister and tense theme, not let's see if this villain can bore me to death this time

and all this could be done even with post Standard Arc V tier animation.

And as for the climax, that can be easily done to with lots of planning and competence, which this studio has none of. The overworked staff will probably start using powerpoint presentations with tons of filler to salvage this dumpster fire of an anime though.

Initial arc is good, battle royal is great, but when they go to 5D's world, the show crashes and never really recovers. The penultimate arc in GX world is okayish, but the final arc and ending are crimes against the eyes and brain.

I think it's an underage who doesn't know that other anime exist. Yugioh character designs are ok at best nowadays, there are better looking characters in shows that are liberal with fanservice
