It's far more possible that you have a situation like in Fahrenheit 451. At the end of the book, Guy Montag is 'killed' by the police, when in fact he had escaped. The police get their man, and the public is relieved by the apprehension of a criminal.

Anyways, if this bomber was smart, he wouldn't have been on Reddit, wouldn't have tried to be famous, and he wouldn't have targeted people. Targeting vital infrastructure such as power sub-stations, communications technology, and water pumping stations would have killed/inconvenienced far more people, and done far more damage.
He was just another attention seeker, nothing more. I bet his manifesto and ideology will be unimportant, too. TedEx will be forgotten in a month.
