They're OK. Not good, not bad, just OK. If it was bad, you could maybe laugh at it and be entertained by it's awfulness, but it's not.

I just want a mahou shoujo series with decent fights whilst not being padded, really.

Watch Symphogear, there's some pretty good fights in that.

I kind of hated it when it first aired (mostly due to Hibiki's voice), haven't gotten around to giving it a second chance. Might do it at some point, I guess.

Already did that a bunch years ago, the novelty wore off. Same for Mai-Otome, which didn't have particularly great fights outside of Sifr, but was still really enjoyable regardless.

Ehn. It's basically bullying giant monsters, so more like a demonstration than actual fighting.

Neither, hilariously.

It's probably the most solid piece of character work from that season, though. Maybe even of both seasons, unless there's a break from the LN coming.
