For recruitment, more people than ever are failing due to not meeting the physical standards of the military. They also found recruits from southern states are much more likely to be obese, significantly less fit, and more likely to get injured than recruits from other areas. This is actually really important because the military is finding it harder than ever to actually find people interested in enlisting. The population most interested in enlisting happens to be the South, which is also the same population most likely to be too fat.
