I think people are too hard on the sailor moon dic dub. They unfairly bash the show and like to compare it to the sub or the viz dub.

Is Sailor Moon the smuggest anime in existence?

According to some of the cons the VAs and producers went to, there was always trouble with direction and producers and other behind the scene talents were always being replaced and brought in. The VAs seemed like they all enjoyed their experience though.

Usagi/Rei had such a fun dynamic, they always picked on each other but they cared too.

Venus had the best voice in the dub, her cloverway voice that is.

I can understand having watched some shitty dub as a kid, but why the actual fuck did you watch a dub of something this recent?

I want to clarify that I don't outright dislike any of the senshi but my least favorite is definitely Pluto. She's the least expressive and her lack of personality is dismissed as just her being mature. She never gets to do that much in S and just feels tacked on whereas the other outer senshi have major relevancy to the plot unfolding around them. Also her design is meh

There's a shot in that one S episode where Makoto goes off to the mountains to train. Ami is the only one who stays in place while she sleeps, and judging by their surroundings, Minako and Usagi tend to thrash around in their sleep quite a bit.

I always felt that some of the dialogue was improvised or it just had very vague writing and delivery.

Are there any plans to put the Viz dub of Sailor Moon S online anywhere? I am stunned that it's this hard to find even a torrent for it, considering how popular the series is.

I wish that one day they could put Sailor Moon back on TV, even if it was the shitty old dub. Same with OG Pokemon; if Toonami aired all those classic children's animes just for one night I'd day a happy man.

When I got to that point I just said fuck it and watched subs. Best decision honestly because the voice acting is top notch and even funnier delivery despite being in a different language. Having watched almost 100 episodes in the Viz dub the switch was weird, but I got use to it after a few episodes.

DiC has like a handful of episodes that are at least as entertaining as the original show in their own right. I honestly don't think I'd have enjoyed watching it in Japanese for the first time as much as I did if I hadn't seen the dub first. If you can't enjoy it just for how bizarre it is you're just a stickler as far as I'm concerned.

The manga, where the writing is so dull that virtually anything is an improvement. Even a total fruitcake fuckup of a dub that screws over the plot. DiC Sailor Moon fucks up the characters' personalities and has tons of ridiculous VAs, but the manga characters for the most part basically don't even have personalities in the first place. Hell, I'd easily take it over the early parts of Crystal.

Toonami is the only hope for this, and I really don't trust them to do the right thing. Their going to air bloody black Clover of all things and I doubt Sailor Moon, original cut or not, is really what they're planning for.

I hope this ultimately isn't the case though.

To me, the DiC version is like 60's Batman, you just gotta take it with a grain of salt and enjoy the ride. And that old dub could be one hell of a ride. The Cloverway dub did improve some things, but it still wasn't perfect; the voice acting and editing were still big problems. I think I enjoy the DiC version just slightly more because of the silliness, the Japanese version of S could get melodramatic at times, but the dubbed version is like a soap opera gone wrong. The Super S dub wasn't perfect either, but neither was the original version to begin with.

The dic dub was like an improv show during amateur hour, lines can be so cringy and horribly performed that it almost becomes art. Plus, who doesn't like Ami saying things like nutzoid or hunkasaurus? Or how every other line would be forced 90s lingo that even kids thought were lame and could tell were written by a 50 year old television writer trying to copy stuff like Ninja turtles and Bart Simpson like bodacious.
