A solid show with a shit hetero ending that ruins it, much like another solid show that got a shit hetero ending that ruined it.

yea like no one even knows what happens to linda when she says "ive left something undone" and then fucks off. she should have gotten a clearer ending.

Is Kouko a gyaru? Initially I thought her attitude didn't fit but the ones in Aho Girl were also kind of cute like her.

The author is awful. She writes fun character SoL stuff but can't do drama at all. Same thing as Toradora, first half is enjoyable but second half is shit.

The second half is awful. Pretty much everything that is established in the first half is wiped away for no real reason other than drama.

It's a deconstruction of romantic drama light novel tropes, written by what's generally considered the master of the form. It's so layered in its commentary and so full of reference to other works in the genre and her own writing that it's hard to even begin to unravel. Golden Time is something you come back to every few years as you've read more, and grown more as a person, and each time there's more and more of it there that you never noticed.

I can't even begin to guess at what you're referring to.

Okay, let's take for instance Taiga's character in the first half.

She is infatuated with Kitamura. Completely infatuated. What happened in the story that removed the infatuation? The first half Taiga and second half Taiga are nothing alike.

Let's take Minori. The first half she is energetic and caring. The second half she goes nuts and starts all sorts of drama for reasons that are never established. Her energy is sapped. She's not the same character.

The characters do a complete 180 in the middle of the anime and it's abrupt, awkward, and not well-written.

The show is good when its cute fun hanging-out-with-friends which is what the 1st half is. However when it transitioned to drama it became a train wreck by obliterating any characterization that had been setup.

It sounds like you just want the characters to be archetypes and act exactly the same for the entire show. Taiga stays infatuated with Kitamura until the Christmas arc - she even gets into a fight and gets suspended over him just before that. Minori is nuts throughout the story, she's just a happy version of nuts in the beginning and becomes a depressed version of nuts when she realizes her friend likes the same guy she does.

Minori is not at all nuts throughout the story.

I thought he was just a metaphorical representation of Banri’s subconscious, so I didn’t mind it when he first appeared.

She's eccentric as fuck. How many normal people do you see handing out pictures of them making a bucket of pudding? Speaking in metaphors? Randomly putting on bald wigs? Answering a yes/no question like this?

She is eccentric yes, but she is not instigating drama.

The only time she instigates drama is at the end when she doesn't take Ryuuji's bullshit trying to hide what he heard Taiga say. The other drama she's involved with is entirely Ami's fault.

Is Koko just Minori reborn?

Ami is a good girl leave her alone.

She's a hotter, smarter, cuter, funnier, better, more marryable Minori.

10/10 until Ghost Banri showed up.

It peaked when Koko rejected Banri's confession and he straight up told her to go fuck herself, refusing to be just friends. That was pretty alpha.

Way better than Toradora in every single aspect, not that that it's a compliment.

Pretty great honestly, would have been perfect 10/10 if they had used something less obnoxious than Ghost Banri to further the story. Koko is cutie as fuck. I gave it a very good 8/10.
