Is it me, or has the number of 'memorable' shows declined severely over the past decade or so. There are so many new and enjoyable shows coming out every season, but it feels like after a season or two all of them are forgotten. The only ones Sup Forums talks about anymore are only discussed because of the cute girls, not because of the show itself being good or fun.
So are the shows getting worse over time, or is the market just so oversaturated that nothign stands out anymore?
thats what happens when a media become saturated. People begin focusing less on quality or ambition to make something good and shift towards doing whats popular.
Jason Richardson
I'd oversaturate that dragon loli with my seed.
Gavin Scott
Yeah it has. Mainly because pandering to turn a profit and survive has taken the unfortunate but necessary priority over original and daring shows, otaku don't like change which is why the industry feels like its stale. Hell I think there are more adaptions of manga, VNs, LNs, and phone novels/games then there are original works in anime now.
Nathan Sullivan
The industry is in an economic bubble, trash is going to continue be produced as long as it's profitable. Luckily we won't experience a market crash on the same scale as the one in 2008.
John Gray
>Luckily we won't experience a market crash on the same scale as the one in 2008. Can you elaborate? What went on in 2008?
Jace Ortiz
Why does it matter to the western audience? Every season I find one or two shows worth watching to me. This seasons continuation of Soma and the adaption of Mahoutsukai no Yome are good enough for me.
I do agree there are too many shows coming out though.
Jackson Collins
Housing market crash in the US?
Eli Torres
The market is bloated and the primary audience resents change. Lots of shows now don't have staying power as they're just cheap advertisements for /mostly/ low-brow manga, LNs, etc. but that's the most efficient way to make money as opposed to an original series with actual time put in it.
Nathaniel Taylor
Its called nostalgia. You only really remember the good shit of old and seldom think of the new due to the fact that what is actually good is also along side things that are sub par at their release. You don't have that with old stuff cause the bad stuff that also came out are easily forgotten. People have stated the same things you have years ago. So congrats on making an observation held by many before you.
Gavin Brown
It's easy for someone to say that the older shows are more memorable. But you had just as much forgettable trash back then as we do now. The difference is you have a whole decade of content to look back on and sift through to find memorable shows.
Liam Jackson
it's just you
the older you get, the less stuff you retain
Henry Gonzalez
Some of the newer anime has been bad though.
James Lopez
OP is right, the only memorable anime this year has been Maidragon.
Jaxon Watson
The last good anime year was 2014. You know times are bad when 2015 AOTY was Hibike, a mediocre anime by KyoAni standards, and 2016 AOTY was a heavily flawed show like Flip Flappers
Elijah Robinson
Yeah but Flip Flappers was an enjoyable bit of fun. It was made for the love of what the genre can do. No so much memorable as some niche show some weeb is gonna find in ten years and brag on forums about how great it was.
Thomas Reyes
>The only ones Sup Forums talks about anymore are only discussed because of the cute girls, not because of the show itself being good or fun.
John Jenkins
>Is it me It's many people, every year, forever, ever since things that have been made to be judged by people have started being made.
Jackson Wilson
i mean you can just look at 2007 anime compared to like, 2016 shit or 2017 and see how big the difference is
Camden Jackson
Nobody "discusses" anything about maid Dragon. It's all just shit posting and wut do threads.
Ethan Collins
2007 was an anomaly, every year looks like shit compared to 2007.
Elijah Jackson
What? You work on a single anime at a time, there's no "saturation" from the production end. What is saturated is the consumer part, WE focus less on any particular show because there's an abundance of equal quality shows. The product hasn't changed, we value it less because it's not as rare.
I'm obviously talking in the scope of your argument, yes anime production has changed and it is more mass produced, but if the only anime in existence was whatever pile of garbage you think is the worst anime - that anime would be memorable.
Justin Hill
even directors sometimes do 2 anime simultaneously. let alone animators, artists, VAs etc
i don't think the dude you replied to was referring to saturation in that sense though
Jackson Stewart
Madoka Magus Bride Made in the Abyss Children of the whales Tsuruzure Children Flip Flappers Konosuba
In that order.
Jackson Young
I want to deflower Kanna’s tight loli cunny so fucking badly
Now I know you’re exaggerating. There’s no possible way anybody could ever watch Madoka and say it’s the worst anime on earth.
Joshua Nelson
>>>/MAL/
Landon Foster
What’s MAL?
Christopher Nelson
That is because Aquarion Logos erased the concept of memorable anime
Charles Hughes
A cancerous place where you should stay.
Lucas Reyes
He was kidding. As far as I’m concerned Madoka is the new Evangelion.
Mason Cooper
Name an anime under twenty episodes they can compete with Madoka.
Christopher Thompson
boku no pico
Ian Flores
Exactly. None.
Jackson Collins
Gravion Zwei, kindly fuck off back to Anime Suki.
Asher Green
whats the matter too deep for you? I guess you have to be extremely intelligent to appreciate the art that is boku no pico
Henry Nelson
I can already tell by the art alone that in modern times it stands literally no chance. Also that anime doesn’t have an episode on the god list in Japan.
Oliver Perry
2/2 That’s if you can even call it “art” though seeing as its generic anime style unlike Madoka which has work done by Inu Curry. Art that’s actually respected in the art world and will never age.
Now that your ass is thoroughly wrecked, please do continue to /y/ne about your terrible anime.
Kayden Cox
>I can already tell by the art alone that in modern times it stands literally no chance. Except it does because most anime these days display no effort. > Also that anime doesn’t have an episode on the god list in Japan. Judging anything by only one episode is something plebs do. >Madoka which has work done by Inu Curry. And the art is total as. >Art that’s actually respected in the art world and will never age. It was dated upon arrival.
Jason Taylor
You didn’t “wreck” anybody user. You just posted a bunch of anime that aren’t half as good as Maokda and once again not one of those series has a single episode considered to be one of the best episodes in anime history or truly respectable art. Don’t even get me started on lore and and the contrast between Madoka and one of the most popular stories on earth (Faust).
Grayson Rodriguez
>You didn’t “wreck” anybody user. > You just posted a bunch of anime that aren’t half as good as Maokda Yup, you'r ass blasted. >not one of those series has a single episode considered to be one of the best episodes in anime history or truly respectable art. Neither is your shit show, Anime News Network. Keep crying, it'll make December 14th all the fucking sweeter. >Don’t even get me started on lore and and the contrast between Madoka and one of the most popular stories on earth (Faust) All zero of it made entirely by autistic yuri fags.
Jace Rodriguez
You made no good pointo in your post here user. If anything you’re the one that sounds mad and episode ten of Madoka is legitimately probably the best anime episodes in the world.
Caleb Edwards
>/m/ verbally beats the shit out of a Madoka fag that was also an art snob.
Thomas Ward
Go to the archives and type in episode ten of Madoka and see what pops up.
Oliver Carter
And all of your points were even shittier in comparison. I mean shit dude, you lost to a Go Nagai fan, that's harsh.
Chase Watson
>poor art >/y/ning >menstrual babble >useless dialogue
That's what I got, Bizarro user.
Xavier Gonzalez
Actually most of what I’m saying is facts whikr you guys are just posting anime and saying it’s better. Like it or not Madoka is better than anything you posted.
Tyler Rogers
while*
Jayden Jenkins
No it isn't, you lost badly, admit defeat.
Nathaniel Cruz
Pupa
Austin Hughes
>you lost because I say so
There’s two kinds of people. Those who have watched Madoka and love it and those who haven’t watched Madoka and hate it.
Dominic Murphy
I’m pretty sure the guy posting facts and not opinions is winning.
Ian Gutierrez
Not him, but what if I don't give a single fuck about Madoka? Does that makes me a special boy?
Gabriel Gutierrez
you're just retarded
Justin Howard
I've watched it and it was terrible. You mean the one with alternative facts? It means you have a functioning brain.
Elijah Edwards
90 percent of everything is shit
Evan Lewis
That makes you actually very special and a minority especially if you watched it which you probably haven’t if you’re saying that.
James Cook
It's more or less a mix of oversaturation and stagnation due to popular demand from otaku.
Leo Flores
>You know times are bad when 2015 AOTY was Hibike No that was Aquarion Logos
Zachary Campbell
You didn’t watch it.
Juan Martin
what is that from
Bentley Barnes
I did, it was garbage, fuck off to your safe space until Pai tear apart net neutrality on the 14th.
Camden James
all shit
Austin Flores
If personally found that most people who “hate” Madoka are hardcore Eva fans who are scared the series is overshadowing Eva like it’s a competition or something.
Isaiah Gutierrez
I looked your picture over and read your post and I didn’t learn a single thing. I still don’t believe you watched it.
Noah Richardson
>he is so defensive he cannot come up with anything beyond "b-b-b-but you didunt watch eet!"
Tyler Anderson
The reason we don't get memorable shows is that the people that consume and discuss anime are shit eating faggots, as this thread shows.
Even if you find anime that is good and well written, you'll get flamed by fags who think poorly written shit is actually somehow in the same category, or better.
Guys, as someone who has now watched anime for 40 years I have something to tell you all.
It's ALL trash. All of it.
All of it.
Nolan Morgan
I don't know, I'm following 21 shows this season and at least 5 of them are really good.
Adam Howard
>And those that have admit it sucked, And haven’t watched it.
Julian Allen
Kill yourself.
Evan King
>fujoshit trash What did retard-kun mean by this?
Bentley Richardson
It's more like an issue with today's society where everyone is filled with negativity that no one sees the good things anymore, they only remember the bad.
Kevin Long
I myself think it’s actually impossible to finish Madoka and sit there and think to yourself “I didn’t like that” but that’s just me. I couldn’t even picture that reasonably happening.
Zachary Morales
Fuck off, ironic weeb.
Joseph Brooks
I only watched two episodes but I enjoyed them immensely, I'll finish it soon™
Justin Williams
It was obviously a hit here. Every day during when Madoka was airing looked like the Sup Forums when Rem confesses her love to Subaru except for every day all the time. It’s probably the been most discussed anime while airing since the creation of Sup Forums.
Ryder Green
What are you doing with your life? Go watch it. It’s like one of the best must watch anime.
Colton Cruz
Catching up on this season.
Jacob Thomas
You're confusing me with Madofag, when actually I'm "I can't believe this guy thinks X dogshit is good" fag.
Christian Cooper
Magus bride is also good and I’m only asking you to watch this because I know you like most other people will skip out on a good anime if I don’t. I really think you should give Tsuruzure Children a try. The episodes are short and it’s just so heartwarming.
Asher Davis
It's just you. Anime has been getting way better and it's only your nostalgia that even makes it seem like the shitty old series can compete.
Jaxon Allen
I'm already up to date on Mahoutsukai, and I think I have Tsuruzure Children in my backlog. You seem to have pretty good taste, if you and those other anons would all stop sperging out we could have a comfy thread.
Angel Scott
We've made great strides in CGDCT
Cooper Hughes
>I hate everything that’s good in life because I want people to accept me
Elijah Russell
shonenshit is gobbling everthing up
I sort Sup Forums catalog by activity and shonenshit threads always on top
Josiah Carter
I know but it’s actually just not acceptable to talk down about the Madoka anime around me or any real Madoka fan. I won’t tolerate it.
Liam Lee
That's pretty autistic, but I get it. Have you been watching children of the whales? It's pretty good, but I'm starting to think I should wait for someone to make not-shit subs. The only ones now are Asenshi shit or that guy who barely speaks English.
Noah Barnes
The only anime I don’t really care about being compared to Madoka is Eva. They’re sort of similar anyways and as annoying as they are at least I know the Eva fans are real guys unlike most people.
Adam Lewis
Something something wanting to appeal to a more international audience or something
