Tech worker here. H-1B is absolute shit.
What these companies do is that they recruit Pajeets right after high school into their own pay-for-degree type colleges, where they basically get a worthless college degree with minimal (if at all) coursework in return for working for the firm for a set amount of time --basically indentured servitude.
They then make fake resumes for these pajeets and try to get as many of them into the U.S. via the H-1B program. There's a 45,000 per year quota plus 20,000 for M.S. degree holders and they do anything they can to get as many of their pajeets in as possible. This goes as far as to falsifying immigration documents if let's say one pajeet gets an H-1B but goes AWOL so they use his H-1B right to get someone else in.

Proper tech companies like Google, Apple etc. pay their H-1Bs proper salaries like they pay the U.S. citizens and green card holders, usually $120-130k for a fresh grad in the Valley. Companies like Cognizant however, pay the absolute minimum of $60k (minimum amount required to be paid to an H-1B holder) then try to employ these pajeets at other companies (usually IT departments of non-tech firms like Disney etc) as contractors, via other pajeets that already have managerial positions at said companies who turn a blind eye to the false resumes and insane amount of forgery going on. These contractor pajeets are essentially hired out for hundreds of dollars per hour with companies like Cognizant pocketing the insane profit.
These pajeets come to those companies with only their false resumes in hand and quickly break down under the insane amount of stress. I've seen a guy literally cry in the middle of a meeting and run out of the building. I talked to him later and found out that his resume said he had 7 years of Java experience yet he hadn't written a single line of code in his life, but he was in debt to this college that he went to, because they promised him this job, and now he couldn't quit because he had a family to feed.
Bottomline: H-1B is shit. >Abolish H-1B >Only merit-based skilled immigration based on job market demands that cannot be fulfilled by US citizens only. >Independent government organization to verify educational credentials.

Y'all can come to Canada. Google, FB, Amazon will happily hire you and pay you fair salaries as long as you can pass all the interviews and prove you can get the job done. Plus no status uncertainty --you get your temporary work permit straight away and they sponsor your permanent residency after 6 months of employment. Most Canadian STEM graduates go to the U.S. anyway because they can get in easy via NAFTA and they get paid more there, so Asians and Indians pretty much get all the shit done here.

First of all, pajeets got English as their official language. Russians in IT are usually happy with their level of English which allows them to read manuals and other technical documentation, they don't bother to advance their English communicative skills.
Secondly, there're Intel, Google, NVidia and others in Russia and people work for the companies in Russia not having to move abroad.

I actually used to have this exact job, but they “near-shored” out to HCL in Cary. Now four years later, it’s back again. Guess it didn’t work out so well.
