My favorite type of literature is British literature. I've read so many romances and philosophy works from British authors, they are always extremely enlightening. But it seems like Britain is now merely a shadow of its former self. The land of free buckos who had a beautiful comprehension of life and its faculties is now becoming the land of irresponsible post-modernists.
How can you all cope with the gigantic discrepancy between your current country and your national literature? Do your children even still read British literature anymore? I can't imagine how they would read such wonderful works and still defend these awful ideas.

In our schools we don't read British literature, we read American. The only British literature we do read is Shakespeare and he's politicized and nothing of importance is discussed when analyzed. We don't study British philosophy, or any philosophy at all really. In terms of History we learn about WWII and Concentration Camps.
You have had generations of British youth raised to dislike their own country while also having no fucking knowledge of the history of the country, the great men that built it etc
Go up to the average British person and try to engage in a historical discussion with them of their own country and they'll be completely unable to do so.
The only history they know is whatever historical event The Guardian thinks it can use to justify more immigration or something.
We have debates on the BBC, a state funded television broadcaster, discussing "What it means to be British" and the answers are always something like "Tolerance, Equality and Fairplay." or some other jumble buzzwords.
Romans probably asked the same questions themselves

I didn't take history past what was mandatory but this is pretty true.
From what I remember we touched on the Kings/Queens of England from William I to present (each person in the class was assigned one king and had to do a short presentation on them).
After that it was the Holocaust, slavery in America.
And History lessons were also used for 'citizenship' lessons where we learned about muh multiculturalism, and 'British Values'
The acronym they taught us was Democracy, Individual liberty, Rule of law, Tolerance.
They LITERALLY teach in schools that British Values are DIRT.

That's so sad. When I read your country's works I immediately fell in deep love and wished I was born there. To think that the folks who were lucky enough to be British threw their culture into the trash and adopted some bland globalism. It seems like a worthy nightmare of civilized nations with rich culture, imagining it would all be forgotten and replaced with trash.
Still, I wouldn't give up hope just yet. Your country's culture is still saved in the books quite unlike shit countries like mine. Maybe a future generation, motivated by the events of their time, will pick them up and restore Britain to its former glory.

Even my own history education when I look back at it now is incredibly biased and I never even realised at the time. It just makes me realise how unbelievably powerful the education system is. Completely terrifying.

Yes they are. I learned a lot from Tolkien, Arthur Conan Doyle, Shakeaspere, Charles Dickens... These are not philosophy authors, but you can still absorb so much knowledge and tradition from them.

Honestly, Americanisation is arguably one of the biggest problems. At some point in history the political class of Europe decided to turn the continent into another United States and the sad thing is that the whole process was done behind closed doors and nobody reacted because we all had full bellies and empty balls. I have nothing against American people but American government, culture, capital, goods and media are so unbelievably damaging.
I talk about these things a lot with my friends and the only way to reverse Americanisation that we can think of is to follow the Modernist trend that arose in Europe with guys like Ezra Pound.
Start with the premises that humans seek that which is new, yet tradition is important and proceed from there. People say that tradition is not the worship of ashes but the preservation of fire, yet you can't relight charred remains, so you must innovate and make things new again.
If European nations and people are to survive they need a transcendentalist meaning for their continued existence. To paraphrase Nietzsche, you need to give Europeans a why so that they can overcome any how. Europeans need to create for themselves a Cultural Cathedral rather than spend their days wandering a Cultural Mausoleum.
