I'm seeing this girl, she's quite a bit younger than me and considers herself a liberal. I've been open about my views as well. The thing is, I told her that I think she's more right wing than she knows, she's just not exposed to much of it. Well, turns out the more she learns about positions of the right from an actual right wing guy, the more she agrees. It's not a fast process but it's fun. But to your point, I think we need the right and the left to keep each other in check. The left harps until they get their way and then the right smacks back. It's a cycle.

There are good and bad people on both sides; those who want to keep otherwise good people in conflict, and those who seek to engage in dialogue from all sides.
Even by lumping all of Sup Forums into one basket you're committing a false association that leads to painting everyone here with a single brush when almost every day here is an ideological battlefield. The only difference today is that there are much easier, much more impressionable targets than normal who, in showing that they aren't willing to engage in discussion, make them even easier to attack.
