Is there a way to sign up/donate to the NRA without receiving mail from them? I live in an ultra liberal place because of work and don't want any of my neighbors finding out. I know it's a stupid reason but I don't have a choice and don't want to stir up shit here, but I still want to donate to gun rights.

I live in the SF Bay Area, so I understand about wanting to avoid the liberal gaze of neighbors. You can decline the NRA magazine, but they still send me advertising mailers from time to time. I think they have a call center you can call for memberships. Tell the agent you don't want any postal mail, and I imagine they can remove you from their list.

Their chief purpose is to keep an eye on politicians and persuade them to pass laws in support of gun ownership, or at least, not to pass laws that harm gun ownership rights. Beyond lobbying, the NRA also promotes firearm use and knowledge to the general public. Lots of firearm classes out there come from the NRA, and they sponsor some youth programs to promote shooting as a sport.
