We're at a point where the country is full of two populations that have completely opposing philosophies for how the world ought to be. There's no room for communication or discourse anymore.

Conservative brained people are people that tend to have more self restraint and discipline which is why you see them often holding back in these types of situations (they appeal to some higher principle to justify their restraint) but you'll notice lefties often chimp out and get outright aggressive. They're the relative that storms out of the room when confronted with an opposing view. There are a lot of fucking liberals that would physically attack conservatives right now were the circumstances to present themselves.
When conservatives start getting violent, we'll know we've reached the boiling point. Right now they're still mostly taking it and appealing to higher principles like "free speech" or "law and order". Use the conservatives as your litmus test for when serious conflict is about to start, when they stop appealing to the abstractions shit will get real.
But then again, what if this was meant to happen? A psychologically constructed civil war where mainstream/social media promotes radical political groups such as Antifa or Richard Spencers Alt Right that also happens to promote the ideology of civil war.

Ignorance. When you're born and raised in America, you're led to believe that this is the center of the world, this is the pinnacle of human achievement, that you're already at the top of the heap.
And once you're at the top, where is there left to go? Nowhere. This type of attitude exists regionally (as in, the French, the British, and the Russians can visit other countries and expect cultural norms to be similar to their own and for their languages to be spoken), but no other group of people has this attitude on a global scale. Remember that quote from Full Metal Jacket? "Inside of every gook is an American waiting to get out?" That's how we view the rest of the planet: Underneath their strange, alien languages, unusual customs, and bizarre style of dress, there's a real, actual human in there, they just haven't had enough time to develop and come to fruition. We equate normalcy and humanity to being American (and a white American, at that). We're just waiting for the rest of the planet to catch up to us and stand beside us at the top.
