The entire school system is inhumane, but no one dares talk about it, because that would imply our society is wrong in its very foundation. It's no wonder that "School shooters" appear every now and then. It has nothing to do with guns, and everything to do with the extreme alienation that some kids suffer from under the yoke of "public schooling". What's the chance that 20 random people are going to get along, just because they were born in the same year? Ancestry, parentage and race matters way more. "Schooling" should not be for everyone, nor should it be financed by the state. The responsibility of schooling should always fall on the parents, his kids should be schooled in whatever job he is himself performing in society. This would organically order our society into different castes.

If by "worked" you mean producing school shooters then sure. The modern world is not a result of the public schooling system. Our society persists not because of the school system, but DESPITE it. It doesn't work. You're mistaking the cause and the effect.
