Mr. Ftouhi referenced killings in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, and yelled “Allahu Akbar.” After his arrest, Mr. Ftouhi told law enforcement that he was a “soldier of Allah” and subscribed to the ideology of al-Qaeda and Usama bin Laden.

Although the defendants promised to pay the victim, they never did. Instead, they claimed to apply the victim’s earned pay to a debt the victim owed.
