Just rewatched this for the first time since it came out. Why did Second Raid get so much edgier than the other seasons?

First series was Gonzo being Gonzo. Fumoffu was Kyoto Animation fucking around with side stories and other randomness from the novels. Third series was fairly faithful to the light novel. Things turn pretty damn dark and stay that way for a long time afterward.

The series gets considerably darker. Dancing Very Merry Christmas is the last chance for fun and they made it a drama CD. I can't wait for reactions to Burning One Man Force.

I really like S1 and Fumoffu but TSR takes the plot into the new height.

Every season has a different feel to it, it's kinda nice actually.

Apparently. It's going to animate the rest of the series. Dancing Very Merry Christmas already came out that bridges the end of TSR with the beginning of the new series, which starts with Continuing On My Own.

They did Break Blade which had some truly beautiful mecha animation. Too bad it will be CGshit most likely.

At least Xebec's CG is well done unlike Satelight for instance.

I'm pretty sure it was So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish in episode 1 of season 1. No idea why I think I remember that, it's been like 10 years since I last watched it.
Of course it also referenced Full Metal Jacket, which was mandatory given the serie's name.

Animation should be fine as long as the character designs for the anime isn't being handled by that guy who always does it for their ecchi romcoms.

How are the light novel fan translations, they any good?
I've only read the official ones by Duane Johnson, and he got laid off once the localizer closed down.

There was a very good fan translation that got as far as Continuing on my Own but was shut down when the novels got licensed. I found one other fan translation of the rest of the novels but they were beyond terrible. The translator rarely managed to construct an English sentence without massive mistakes.

Fumoffu was the only good season. I don't understand why people are still obsessed about FMP after all these years.

He goes through all twelve novels and two side novels.
I have not read it at all yet, but its the only one I could find when i was downloading them all at once.
