There's no way it could live up to the hype.

I honestly think that woman who wrote Violet Evergarden was a genius.
Think about the way she described her:

Considering it's perhaps the most anticipated anime in the West and is getting a ton of hype, you'd expect it to be #1 actually. So if anything, only #7 is kind of underwhelming.

Not at all? VEG's source material are a couple of novels most anime viewers have never read and will never read, whereas #1-5 on that list are popular IPs with already existing anime, and #6 is a popular manga. Ranking at #7 is a pretty good.

VEG is more in line with western tastes. Japan is nowhere near as hyped, and there are plenty of other anime they're already invested in to be excited about. #1 is a popular Jump manga, #2 is a popular waifu IP, #3 is the continuation of a classic and influential mahou shoujo series, #4 is a popular light novel series, #5 is a popular swordbando IP, #6 is a popular manga, all with existing fanbases that will bother voting on such polls.

Not to mention Sup Forums loves to falseflag hype the shit out of it.

All of that is not worth the hype. VEG is the only entry on that list that is actually genuinely promising. All in all, I guess #7 is not so bad considering that it's a new IP.
