the fact that everywhere you go, you're constantly harassed by an extremely limited pallete of enemies makes the game just not fun.There are simply too many encounters constantly forcing you to fight the same boring enemies over and over again. A patch could fix this. Some level design is dreadful as well. Looks so alive but feels so dead. Combat feels extremely sloppy and for every awesome bit of chaos going on there's 5 or more canned, immersion-destroying events.
I'd give it a 4.5/10 from what I've played so far and I'm literally forcing myself through it now because I pre-ordered it like an idiot.

Read the Polygon review, quite the opposite is true. They used the apperence of a radical critique but the game itself does everything possible to not be radical. It’s a radical leftist critique as much as Outlast II was.
The point out that there is no real explanation for the cult’s radicalization, no back story that justifies their existence, and that the fact that most of the minions are on a mind control drug takes away any moral agency and thus political choice. There is no moral consequence to killing what are basically zombies, and thus no moral weight to your own characters actions.
They point out that both sides using torture creates a moral equivalency which destroys any sort of larger ‘purpose’ for your characters action.

Then I saw two things that made me say "fuck no"
1) Denuvo

2) No steam achievements
Now this is a little more complicated. I don't actually give a shit about steam achievements themselves. What I care more about is what this represents. The effort involved in putting achievements on Steam is laughably low, and they didn't do it. It shows that they do not have any intent on using Steam properly. If they can't be bothered to devote a few hours to getting the achievements to sync to Steam, do you think they're going to be bothered to fix any bugs that might come up as a result of the Steam platform? (especially things like the launchers and overlay)
It's kind of similar to if someone gets arrested for promoting Communism at a university. Do I give a shit about the commie fuck himself? Fuck no, I wouldn't give a shit if he blew his own brains out. I would give a fuck about the arrest because it would mean that Free Speech was being violated.
