The modern west peaked when Germany completed it unification because of how it revolutionized war, diplomacy, and policy making during its peak, ww1 undid all of that hard work that the European conservatives had done to maintain order since Napoleons defeat. The interwar period is when socialism started corrupting Europe and then ww2 justified its incorporation into rebuilding Europe. Europe died with Franz Ferdinand and the west died at Versailles IMO. Despite this I think it is still possible to claw out of this hole with a long term cultural reformation based around loyalty to the state and self reflection to confront the emotions that cause tribal identies to form so everyone identifies as an American or [Insert European ethnicity] and not a political slave or fake gender.
