I'm much more a fan of real-world astronomy and IRL giant telescopes and space programs than shitty scifi like star wars or star trek. But this thing is ridiculous, it was supposed to launch 10 years ago and cost less than $2 billion.

I highly suspect "diversity" in key roles and partnerships in the planning and development of this telescope may be at fault here, might be worth researching. That or corruption. Probably both

It's because of the budget cuts, NASA has barely any budget compared to other field areas. If all the worlds military budget went into space exploration, then we could colonise the whole solar system in the next 30 years, but as you can see it's more important to fund wars and mudslime immigration than anything else, fuck this world.
