No, I agree. The alternate universe, world war setting was so far out from left field I loved it.

2003 has no best Armstrong.
Checkmate!

Yup...

The overall mood in 2003 was better cuz it didn’t have so much stupid humor.
No Armstrong sister is it’s biggest setback though.

2003 felt more self contained, brotherhood was more goofy because it assumed you were already familiar with the source material and invested in the characters.

The sound direction alone. Jayzus. It's beatiful. Brotherhood may have the better openings but on the music used overall, 2003 wins by miles.

I mean I would have seriously liked to discuss this topic but you posted a screencap from the shitty nazi movie

Hey. I thought the movie was pretty good if not profoundly sad.

I liked it more too. We can still fight if you really want, but it'll have to be about something else.

Just rewatched Conqueror of Shamballa last night. God that movie was weird.

Both are pretty good for very different reasons, I wouldn't say one completely outshines the other contrary to what some mangafags will have you believe.

Winry is worst girl.

O-okay...
How do you like your tofu? Steamed or fried? It better be fried, faggot.

2003 had better atmosphere and music by far.
Brotherhood is better as a unit but it never excels or pushes the boundaries in any aspect. Easily the single most overrated anime in existence.

2003 does do some things a lot better, but it can be comparatively unfavorable in some regards to plot decisions and/or characters. I think overall the pacing and music were so much better in '03 than in Brotherhood, though. There was a sense of gravitas towards everything. Hughes death was a million times more well done in '03, for example.

>parrots a popular opinion
>Fight me

2003 is melodramatic bullshit that borders on misery porn at times, the lighter tone in Brotherhood is better and closer to the manga, get over it

...

Nobody disagrees that 2003 has overall much stronger direction. However, it has that BONES original signature second half...

Sometimes taking liberties is a good thing.
Being more in tune with the original work does not inherently mean anything, especially in this case.

>Sometimes taking liberties is a good thing.
Bones taking liberties is never a good thing
>Being more in tune with the original work does not inherently mean anything, especially in this case.
It's an adaptation, it means a lot, brainlet.

Fma 2003 is better

Agree with you on certain extent.
Original spent times on Hughes, so his death really hit. BH didn't, but expected his death to be as driving as original.
Ed fighting Sloth and Wrath breaking down was really hard felt, nothing in BH felt the same.
Original kept hitting you in the feels which is why it was so good. BH had cool fights though. Mustang Vs lust and Envy, Wrath vs everyone, and father vs everyone were badass fights.

2003 didn't have Arakawa's stupid story telling from the middle-onwards
bitch got pregnant and loss some neurones in the process

2003 has better Scar.
Brotherhood has better Bradley.

>Sometimes taking liberties is a good thing.
and sometimes it's not. 2003 was melodramatic crap.

this

I couldn't bring myself to finish a single episode of either series. I just hated Al's voice so much.
Manga was ok, though.

Both Bradleys are the same character wise.
BH Bradley just got more screentime to do cool shit.

Brown Rose > White Rose

raped rose > virgin rose
>Brotherhood may have the better openings
wrong

Brotherhood's Tucker/chimaera scene had none of the impact or build up of 2003. It was incredible how weak and deflated that scene was and that alone ruined Brotherhood for me.

I like 2003 but I hate the movie.

Why would I fight you when you’re right OP?

Long as we agree Hawkeye is best girl we’re fine.

I’ll also accept Lust.

It is. Guess we still can’t fight.

So was the reveal of Furher being a homunculus, in brotherhood he’s like yea I’m the villain lol for half the series, ‘03 had this big terrifying reveal and Roy fighting for his life in a freakin horror movie.

i liked them both, fite me.

brotherhood's characters are far more fleshed out, developed and believable quit lying.

Cute thread nostalgia fags.
FMAB is objectively better in every way.

The only edge 2003 has on it is being the first one you watched when you where like 15-10 years old and still new to anime.

But you're right.

I looked up some scenes from Brotherhood and only now did I notice the awful animation, I remember it being much better.
