A lot of the structures, while beautiful, aren't that technologically impressive, certainly not by modern day standards, however there are monolithic structures that literally can't be explained by our current understanding of ancient technology. Pic related is one of them, weighs 1,650 tons, has been cut-out with a perfectly smooth surface and was going to be transported without being divided into smaller pieces first.

Between technological bombardment and the chemical onslaught I think they had an advantage in looking inward. Lots of revolutionary thinkers swear by meditation and altered states. I think that with enough patience you can get answers and knowledge from the other side. I think they were better at this.
