Do you think the anime was good enough as an adaptation ? As someone who watched the anime first before reading the VN I have to admit that I was pretty surprise with the silly slice of life parts that were really interesting and funny that the anime forgot to include. The Rei and Kira OVA make more sense now, they are actually in the same vein in terms of silly comedy than the VN.
But funnily enough, I'm still fond of the anime adaptation. The openings, the soundtracks, the anime only arc who gave a little more depth to Satoko...

>Do you think the anime was good enough as an adaptation ? Fuck no. That and the Umineko trainwreck need new adaptions.
Carter Fisher
The anime handled the horror aspect of the series really well. Since an anime series can only have so many hours focusing on the slice-of-life aspect, I think their focus on the horror aspect was the best way to go.
Ideally, the series would have the slow build-up the VN has but that's just no feasible. The music was top notch, and I really like how well the cut-ins at the beginning were at setting the mood.

How does such a shit VN get an Anime adaption?

Reminder that VNs aren't meant to get anime adaptations.

Holy fuck that art

I wouldn't call the Higurashi a trainwreck. Sure there were missing details and plot points but it was not as important as the butchering that was done with Umineko. (Really strange considering that Ryukishi was involved ?) The only redeeming point of the latter were the damedame subs But yeah I feel you there - new Higurashi and Umineko anime adaptations would be cool. What would you change if you had the chance ?
Yeah I get your point but it sadly had a side effect of bringing fans who only like higurashi for the cuteness edgy-fest but then ended disappointed in the VN. It was my case at first but I ended up getting the feels and really got involved in their story. K1, Tomitake and surprisingly Rena became my favorites characters when I thought they were bland at first.
I wonder. What was DEEN trying to accomplish ?

The anime adaptation was really good compared to Umineko. Its even one of my favorites. Inb4 someone who never watched it posts QUALITY.

>d plot points but it was not as important as the butchering that was done with Umineko. No, it was far worse than Umineko butchering. Higurashi condensed 6 arcs into 24 episodes, Umineko 4 into 24.
It was an absolute disaster, the only thing that is similar is the story's structure.

Check out the manga adaptation, way more detail than the anime but smoother than the vn

Not to mention the 10/10 voice acting
Connor Garcia
Unfortunately or maybe fortunately I read Higurashi with the old sprites, no voices included. Thanks to the anime I had an overall idea but there is nothing better than reading in the voices you imagined for the characters

But I meant the anime

There were comfy cicadas noises both in the VN and anime

>not reading the vn and manga and watching the anime

Thank god I saw this thread. I was thinking about playing the VN but if it has even more silly slice of life than the anime I won't.
