I haven't touched my trumpet in at least 5 years. I stopped playing because the songs I was playing as part of a band just weren't interesting to me, but this looks neat. How high a level of quality is normally expected?

We don't really expect amazing quality. As long as you can play the notes on the page and have fun with it that's all that matters.
Jeez, having a mess around now and I can remember my scales but actually reading sheet music again is going to be another thing entirely. Some of the tunes in need of trumpet interest me though so I may manage something in the future.
