what is this Tappei trying to convey here?
Re:Zero thread - Emilia wins edition
Emilia is the destined girl to win because she's best girl. Salty Remfags will be a delight to see.
...
it was always like this though?
>"Rem is definitely going to win"
>Emilia wins
>"the author is wrong"
the final form of Remfags
Maybe if you read the series you would know what he is trying to convey here. If read you would know Emilia doesn’t win.
What that image is referring to is the rewrites the LN Arc 4 have done. One of the changes that talked about most is the changes of Subaru and Rem’s relationship. The LN rewrites some of the scenes to be more vague, and generally cut most of the scenes about Rem from the story. The image is also referring to all the changes seem to try to give Emilia more of the spot light because in the WN Ram, Roswaal, Beatrice, and Garf/Fredrica “steal” the spotlight by generally having more interesting character arcs.
The WN makes it very clear that Subaru loves Rem very much. If you would compare scenes Subaru shares with Rem to scenes he shares with Emilia you can easily tell by how much the Rem scenes try to envoke emotional response.
>the author is wrong
He is most definitely wrong for dumbing down Arc 4, adding a plot convenience crystal, cutting Puck’s entire subplot, removing the main character’s ability to strategize, cutting the tea party short, adding puck to roswaal/ram’s fight for no fucking reason, making Subaru’s sloth abilities a total asspull because you cut all the foreshadowing for it, cutting Ram’s ultimatum, changing Subaru and Rem’s Relationship even though all the developement is the fucking same as the WN.
Came here to post this, glad you already did it
Does the writer feel resentment toward a character he created?
The WNis non canon so nobody should care about it.
>how much the Rem scenes try to envoke emotional response.
Rem's scenes? They don't need to try too hard to evoke emotional response. Most readers would be able to easily sympathize with those scenes by default. Through the course of reading, most would have grown somewhat fond of and attached to Rem. Quirks and all.
The thought of the story continuing without her would seem cruel. Whenever Rem shows up, such readers would naturally feel relieved to know she hadn't been entirely forgotten. Whenever she died, readers would naturally feel things should be reset to bring her back. The idea of something trying to take her place, as with Satella's "Subaru-kun", would be naturally quite anger-inducing. The callbacks to From Zero work for both Subaru and the audience, since that was one of the major highlights of the series.
Even if you're not self-inserting as Subaru, you should still be feeling something somewhat similar to him in all those scenes. Just as a matter of course.
I wouldn’t say so, he has shown no indication of hating Rem with all the stuff he writes and fact he wrote so much Rem stuff for free.
The LN changes come from the fact that the anime attracted a lot of new readers and to not confuse those new readers you have to retcon Subaru and Rem’s entire relationship because the anime cut all of it out. The Editors are butchering his work and he is okay with it.
>try
Maybe was a bad choice of words but the point was mostly that Subaru/Rem scenes are some of the most emotional of the series.
The WN is canon to the WN and that’s the only thing anybody here cares about because it’s the only one we can read. But when the LN translations come out it’s probably still going to be the WN that people here will care about because how far the WN will be ahead.
Do you think that Frederica's tongue is like a cats?
What would the blowjobs be like?
PLOT
CONVENIENCE
TELEPORTING
PYROXENE
CRYSTAL
I think what he meant by “try” was that the scenes were emotional because Tappei wanted them to be emotional
>let’s shorten the arc by adding a crystal that teleports him to the next plot event
What the fuck were they thinking
Not to mention that teleportation is supposed to be an extremely rare form of magic, only an absolute master like Betty having any real ability for it, and Echidna describing it as unreliable.
I’m really fucking mad with these changes. I’m taking these changes a bit personal because they cut the scene that hooked me onto the WN and replaced it with something that only serves as a cruel mockery of it.
I wonder really how much Tappei has to do with the changes because he didn’t get to where he is now with writing like this.
Well, there definitely seem to be stylistic differences between the WN and LN right from the beginning, which seem to persist pretty far on even if some of the differences are just a matter of experience. For instance, I noticed the LN makes significant changes to how Subaru's feelings for Emilia are described in just the first few Arcs.
One thing I feel in comparison is that some LN character behavior borrows from how their characters developed at a later point in the WN. LN Subaru starts off at the level of Arc 3 WN Subaru, or some such thing.
Yeah for a story this long Subaru and Rem’s relationship developed way too fast so postponing that may be a good choice in the eyes of the editor/author but to me it feels like it will drastically change the relationship by toning down all the SubaruRem coma action.
In my eyes the toning down of their relationship is probably permament because Emilia really didn’t stand a chance in Arc 6 and with how good Rem’s character is with Subaru, Emilia probably couldn’t make a comeback. I wonder if this will change Subaru not wanting to rely on anybody except Rem emotionally.
>Yeah for a story this long Subaru and Rem’s relationship developed way too fast
That has nothing to do with what I said, and I really don't think that's true. It developed at a reasonable pace, as far as I'm concerned. What I was saying was that LN Subaru's development was actually boosted forward.
