I'm asian, 5"4, have sub-otter mode physique and my personal kendo workout routine involves close to 1000 swings in half an hour putting me decently close in build. A short warm up stretch followed by 1000 thousand total swings with half kg wooden swords, mix of one handed and doubled handed cuts.

First 600, 100 at full swing strength and form, spread out across for up to 30 minutes then like a quick 5 minute rush of 4 sets of freestyle 100 cuts with two swords and then single swords. First and third sets are "warm-ups" while second and fourth gradually escalate in speed every 10 swings. I think the fastest I ever cranked the speed up had me finish a set in under a minute. It's a lot of arm work but the power comes from the legs so if I really push it my legs can get pretty sore too.

I would not recommend this to anyone though. It's not a proper kendo routine and is way too strenuous without prior conditioning. I've had guests put disbelieving looks on their faces when I get to the demanding parts. I started this routine with like 400 cuts and ended up with this many because I got used to it over time. My muscles are so toned from it now that I have no trouble carrying couches over my head by myself and a slightly serious swing with a bokken cuts the wind audibly if the arc is kept properly. And if I focus, the cutting motion doesn't even last 3 frames on a 60fps recording and the sound of wooshing air is very, very clear even recorded outside 10 meters away.

How did they arrive at those numbers? When I went there it was still a lot easier to find people shorter than me than it was to find ones who were taller. I'm actually right at average height for my people but everyone I know who's been there always seem to bring up how short the nips tend to be and most of them are shorter than me already. I find it a tad too big based on personal observation and testimonies though. I'm not sure I can dismiss the testimonies as selective memory either when they all bring up the height of the locals unsolicited.
