Ok, Berserk fans. I read the Black Swordsman and thought it was both amazing and disturbing. Read the first half of the Golden Age, and genuinely believed it was the piece written fiction at the time and still do. Second half was superb as well, but dragged at some points, however it paid off at the end. Now Lost Children was very average, and I didn't like the tone shift and the excessive humor. But the Conviction arc is by far the worst. Perhaps some of the worst storytelling I've seen in a seinen manga. The gore was not disturbing anymore like the first two arcs but rather edgy and in your face. The characters was shit. Guts and Griffith disappeared for the most part. And the little we got from Guts, was totally ruined by Puck. Casca, one of the better characters, turned into a complete whore. That villain (can't even remember the fucker's name but he looked dumb as shit) was fucking pathetic. Even the side characters were not as good as the band of the hawk. Dynamic between characters felt rigid for the most part. Now I'm unsure if I should continue or not, seeing my polar opposites takes on the story, do you think it's worth it? And I don't mind the hiatus, so that's not an issue.

Not him, but I do agree, Lost Children is not the best this manga has to offer. Sure the fight with Rosine is 10/10, but its just too much of the darkness at times.
Like why does Puck even fucking bother at that point, Guts is just an asshole to him 24/7 and I understand its because he is scared of making new friends because every friend he has ever had has died and left him hurt, but shit man.

I feel sorry for Berserk fans. The grand majority of this franchise is "Let's Save a Bitch Who Nags/Beats Up Guts like a Crappy Harem Love Interest." Japan really loves bitches. That's why I cannot think of Berserk as a good series.

Unlikable annoying female characters who routinely beat up the male characters and treat them badly, but because they "wuv" them the whole universe stops to coddle them about how they must be saved/protected/etc. Fuck this junk. Because Berserk has dedicated most of it's chapters to this unbearable element of the story, I want Guts to fail. And I don't mean fail to save Casca. I want him to fail versus Griffith. I want him to play his little heart out and Griffith STILL beats him.

I'm about to say something very unpopular, but Guts is not a likable protagonist. His only motivation in life is "Muh pussy!" And when the pussy he's obsessed with belonged to such a cunt, it just renders him as unappealing.

Considering it's night time on the island now, they've probably been there for 5 years now (if i'm remembering the island's timeskip magic correctly, that is). In that time, he's probably created way mire effective weapons against Apostles.
