How long is this running? Are they doing the whole thing?

12 more eps. That still won't cover everything in the manga since it's at chapter 140 so they have material for 12 more eps after that and then it's time to wait a few years for the manga to get enough material.

Yeah mangaka is healthy, schedule is regular, no long hiatuses. We could have had 12 episodes per year but SHAFT is pushing out 4 cours in two years, I love seeing it animated but we'll have to wait a bit in the future.

Fat chance. It's a monthly manga and the volume release pace is something like 1 volume per year.

I think there are advantages to this as well. The tone and pacing in adaptation is highly consistent which I very much appreciate.

Spreading it out to a cour a year might lead to a case where the project over time bleeds staff and there is a shift in tone.

Yeah, I appreciate it because it keeps the interest in the anime rolling, if there was a year long break the viewership might fall off harder.

Is Chica Umino the greatest mangaka of her generation? Not only Hachikuro and 3-Gatsu are masterpieces, but the anime adaptations are top notch. ( I also love eden, but she only did the character designs.)

How is Honey and Clover? I've never seen or read it.

There's enough material for another two cour, and by the time they finish that (assuming they do), there'll probably be enough for another one cour.

She has gone on frequent breaks, and got into a serious accident at one point and went on a long hiatus a few years ago. For the past couple years chapters have been very short, about 8-12 pages long, and they only come out every other issue of Young Animal when she isn't on another break. It's very different from the situation when she was writing the chapters that are being animated now; the short chapters of the most recent volumes break up the flow in the story and the pace has slowed down to a crawl.
