How rich and connected does one need to be to communicate with Japanese studios to revive a dead series with a new season?
How rich and connected does one need to be to communicate with Japanese studios to revive a dead series with a new...
Who knows. But I do know Season three and Kumagawa light novels will never see the light of English.
Isn't that because of the fan translators?
As for Season 3, that's what I'm asking about - is it possible for someone rich enough to lead the charge?
Some Elon Musk-ish rich fan of anime that isn't too old to ignore the underlying desire. To be honest, if someone with enough credentials could guarantee contact, even crowdfunding would work.
Because of the Loser Star.
That would be amazing.
I'd love for O!G's work to make a massive comeback. Tenjou Tenge as well.
Why are we so disconnected from them? Anime is a global industry for crying out loud. Where are the surveys? Why do companies like Funi settle for broadcasting only?
...
I am no expert on the Anime industry, but creating another season of a completed series from a dead studio is quite the hurdle.
Not completed - dead. Remember the criteria here, it has to have ended abruptly. Medaka Box is actually perfect for this, since the source material is also there.
Is it true we're getting more Bleach by the way? Or is that more fake news?
money talks though, how much do we need to crowd fund a project?
When I meant completed, I was talking about the source material. Anime is often made to promote the source. Since Medaka Box ended what is there to advertise?
what does he do with those screws?
...the unseen rest of it?
I mean come on, what else do you think we're talking about here? Keep up user
...
screw as many girls as humanly possible
screwmind
how the fuck did I not pick this up
Is he still working on Biorg?
I think you are misunderstanding me. The manga Medaka Box has ended. Without a source to advertise what reason do producers have to make another season? A season three is unlikely.
dunno about revive but around at least $2 million for one cour anime season with average animation
>Without a source to advertise what reason do producers have to make another season?
user, the two seasons of Medaka Box anime that ended only covered the first 55 chapters out of a near 200 - why do you keep insisting there's no material to go on?
>a season three is unlikely
We're literally asking how to make it a likely thing here - either offer any ideas or shut the fuck up.
For the other anons willing to seriously discuss how this has actually been pulled off with SO many other shows, read on: animenewsnetwork.com
Reminder that Kumagawa doesn't kill, ever.
...
Does he rape?
He would if he was in the appropriate magazine.
He would lose if he tried. Therefore he can only have mutual consent.
FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Sold, Sup Forums. Sold.
I mean, technically he DID have some of that in the end. ;_;
I will try to make myself as clear as I can. Anime is made for ongoing series so that it could boost sales. I know the anime ended right at the Minus Arc. Since the manga is complete there will be no new volumes to sell and no season three for advertisement.
Didn't Little Witch happened? Just do another Kickstarter. (and ask Ufotable to do the adaptation)
It seems that manga has more public than anime, so it makes sense to invest half into a media that does not get the full size of your customers.
>Anime is made for ongoing series so that it could boost sales
HOW THE FUCK COULD YOU BE SO FUCKING WRONG
I CAN LITERALLY LIST FOR YOU SEVERAL SHOWS AND OVA THAT WERE MADE -YEARS- AFTER THE SOURCE MATERIAL ENDED.
EVEN GOT AN OVA LATER ON.
Okay, hold up - did we investigate Little Witch enough? Does Sup Forums know all the details of that Kickstarter and how it succeeded and gave birth to a full show??
I remember some anons saying this was also a lie, did i miss something because I don't know how do they come to that conclusion.
I'm pretty sure he's accidentally killed before. He just all fictioned it so it was undone.
Medaka Box is absolute shit.
>Actually tried to make Zenkichi permanently blind
>yeah but he doesn't kill tho
still a huge faggot
Based on this thread, your deathbed will be very lonely user. I won't even ask you to kill yourself.
I'm with you but OVAs =/= long running series or entire cours
>literally too scared of Kumagawa he has to close his eyes during the fight
Seeing Zenkichi going full pussy against Kumagawa was pretty funny.
I understand exceptions exist. But if we are talking about Medaka Box we can see that there is no outstanding demand for a third season the sales numbers for the anime were disappointing as well. There would be no reason for a producers to make another season.
Question: what were the numbers for season 2 then? Why did they make Abnormal if what you said was true?
What happened to the Nisio's one-shot for the wsj thing?
I don't have any numbers to show you, if you really want to know you can look yourself. But my question for you would be why do you think they have not made a season three?
It was only season 2 they crowdfunded.
Hmmm. The studio made the Kickstarter themselves - nobody did it for them.
Take a look at: Notice how they pulled that off despite the demand for the first season?
Didn't he do multiple oneshots?
That doesn't contradict anything I said, but even so go ahead and try to start up a Kickstarter yourself and then try to find someone to make an entire season for you.
No idea
How does it not contradict what you said?
You clearly said seasons are ordered solely on appeal of an ongoing manga. Well A - there was none of that for LWA as far as I'm concerned and B - if there was demand based on the first season, WHY DID THEY HAVE TO CROWDFUND IT??!
It seems the answer might lie in informing studios somehow of the number of people willing to fork money to see a season get funded.
The vast majority of adaptions exist solely to boost sales of the source materials, yes.
Anime as a whole is incredibly unprofitable. it's very rare for a franchise that isn't something huge like Naruto&co to turn a profit off of anime sales alone. Even for original works most of it comes from merchandise.
Literally how new are you?
So why do unprofitable things like Shimoneta get an adaptation in the first place? Where does the demand come from?
Shimoneta as an example was an already completed light novel.
If I remember the Kickstarter was for the second OVA, the anime just came without external motivation (aside the information that foreigners were paying for more material).
I wonder if we can get studios doing private work if the return is better than the traditional Japanse media and marketing, I mean, would they animate and entire cour for overseas viewers? Like web media?
>You clearly said seasons are ordered solely on appeal of an ongoing manga.
Not solely but anime is often made for the purpose of boosting light Novel or manga sales.
>Well A - there was none of that for LWA as far as I'm concerned
Because Little Witch Academia is anime original so I imagine the rules are different.
Yes! That's what I'm talking about!!!
Reminder that Medaka Box before the anime WAS a voiced webseries by volunteering voice actors (or it could've been a funded one). While the VAs were later shuffled around for the real anime, it does show that webseries can in fact happen. It's not the first time either.
The best way to go on about with your idea is to investigate previous successes. The problem with Japan people in this thread are ignoring is that, as a media-active nation producing anime, they're rather VERY ignorant of all the money they could get more with a little bit of extra education and pandering to the West directly (rather than through the duopoly that is Crunchy and Funi).
tl;dr how do we tell Japan to start small for them to see how much they can make out of us directly? LWA did it with a little bit of cute Engrish from the staff directly in a video.
Shimoseka's anime came out before the LN was done.
It also did quite a lot for its sales, there was a pretty substantial spike.
Also it doesn't necessarily have to be ongoing, where the fuck did that ever come from? Fact of the matter is that only very few people buy physical anime, especially since the extras exclusive to it are very rarely anything substantial. You really can look at 90% of anime as nothing but drawn out, relatively expensive, advertisements, shitty as that sounds.
>Because Little Witch Academia is anime original so I imagine the rules are different.
Then can you PLEASE for the love of god concede your mistake and stop talking like you know what's going on in this thread? I know you like to be negative but great ideas always start small. The best favor you could do for us is just leave.
pls leave user. pls.
There are several idiots in this thread who swear anime only exists for ongoing source material, haha
>Reminder that Medaka Box before the anime WAS a voiced webseries by volunteering voice actors
Wait, for real? Where? Who did the voices?
Is there any proof that Japan can make a lot monetizing viral anime shows on Youtube? Or does Funi monopolize that by releasing shit there and monetizing it for themselves?
What mistake did I make, as far as I can see I was not mistaken about anything I said in this thread.
>I know you like to be negative but great ideas always start small
You can not fund anime projects on positive thinking alone.
This thread is /r/anime as fuck.
I can't believe you guys are actually trying to talk to this rube.
>What mistake did I make
Literally right after you confessed that
>Because Little Witch Academia is anime original so I imagine the rules are different
Can you please stop trolling and leave. We're not looking for possibility we're looking to just have a serious discussion about how other people have in fact pulled this off
I enjoy any discussion about Medaka Box, although it seems to have veered from the series itself.
Okay user, how would you improve this thread then
So far it's you and one other dude complaining over nothing and refusing to do any research
Or do you wish people were this enthusiastic about other shows?
Me too but this thread is about the bigger topic of dead series revivals.
Maybe if you stopped typing like you have brain damage and grew up a little before coming here.
You come across as some shitty 16 year old that thinks he is the smartest guy in the world after skimming through a couple Wikipedia articles when all he's doing is embarrassing himself.
Okay user, we get it. Now what are you going to add to this conversation?
Little Witch Academia was made by Trigger who had the people in place to make anime original content. Medaka Box is nearly ten years old and is not in any popular demand. two very different circumstances.
>who had the people in place to make anime original content
Can you explain further?
All I remember was Kamiyan was Zenkichi. The title of the video on Youtube was entirely moon so I think it was actually straight from Nico or similar.
Trigger is a functioning Studio with directors and artists. Which studio would be willing to make a season three of Medaka Box.
How old are you? Serious question.
>japan literally owns Sup Forums
>still won't give a flying fuck about any of you or your dead anime fantasies
34
15, but I skipped a grade so I'm going to graduate and go to college this year.
Now can we PLEASE go back to discussing the topic.
>Trigger is a functioning Studio with directors and artists
Okay user, but doesn't every studio have that? I don't understand what you mean.
Welp, you're going to be very very disappointed to find out which studio was working for Gainax at the time when they made Medaka Box...
> but doesn't every studio have that?
Take a look at the Studio that made the Medaka Box anime.
>15
You have to be eighteen or older to post here.
every day user
every FUCKING day
Why does he talk in the brackets? What does he mean by that?
Kill yourself. Legit, just do it and don't even think about it.
Lies and deceit. It just means you can't trust anything he says. It's a hipstery thing for him, kinda like the ! sign in coding.
>memetable
N O
O
That's just insult over injury, user. Not cool.
>>>tumblr
Who would you recommend?
Thanks.
The only reason LWA even got such a huge resonance was how big of a meme trigger is in the west.
It's absurd to name it as an example of anime Kickstarter successes when it's really not applicable to any other studio.
>lies and deceit
No? Where the fuck did you pull that out from. It's a meta joke, just a fucking pun. Kakko tsukeru means both to add parenthesis and to show off.
>The only reason LWA even got such a huge resonance was how big of a meme trigger is in the west.
Was that before or after KLK?
The only time he drops the brackets are when he is being completely serious.
Before, I think. KLK kinda sealed the deal later.
Madhouse
Did Madhouse ever work on something similar to MB? Aren't they known for super hardcore serious designs like DN and Redline?
Because he's literally always trying to show off. There is only like one or two instances in the entire Manga where he speaks sincerely and drops them.
The type of brackets that are used in the original text are the same kind used for quoting something inside of a quote, so the text in the brackets technically isn't what he is actually saying either, it's just the meaning of it, the subtitles if you will.
Medaka Box is nothing but these kind of meta devices, sometimes I really wonder what people even read it for
>check the comments
>they still didn't deliver all their rewards
Honestly? It was a really good take on the shonen genre in general. One of my favorite callout works ever.
They did One punch Man and No game no life, in the end it just comes down to the staff involved.
Well I think the joke is that he is attempting to quite the corny lines from the shounen he reads. But I also interpret it as everything he says is insincere. He does not mean anything he says with the brackets.
It wasn't a "take on the shounen genre" or a """"deconstruction"""" or anything of the sort, it's simply meta-fiction.
Also equating a demographic with a genre makes you look like a complete and utter idiot.
