Almost 2018

>almost 2018
>Kill la Kill is still the best TV anime of the decade
What happened?

Saved anime

it sure would have been if they hadn't decided to retread TTGL the entire second half

Wasn't even the best anime in the year it aired.

This.

But that never happened.

You having seen 20 anime tops?

Except it sucked. Go back to your dragonball general.

I'd debate that point but I'm not in the mood for someone to hijack this later trying to claim Trigger shows are somehow deeper than their face value because its Christmas

You don't really need to dig deep to see how the plot is completely different.

>ad hominem
You literally cannot refute this.

I'm not making the claim that at episode 14 the TTGL theme starts playing and Simon shows up. It just hits all the same beats. Bad guy from first half is now good and was just concealing the much larger lurking evil that is now the focus of the second half and of course it's the humanity's inherent nature that is the root cause of the conflict.

I liked KlK but after Inferno Cop I thought they were trying to get away from Gainax bullshit not repeat it.

>Bad guy from first half is now good and was just concealing the much larger lurking evil that is now the focus of the second half
The dynamic itself was completely different. For starters the show never tried to trick you into believing Satsuki was the real antagonist, introducing the villain as soon as episode 6. Then if in TTGL the antagonist of the first half realizes his mistakes and helps the protagonists, in KLK both realize that they were doing things wrong and come to a middle ground.
Basically reduce things to their basic structure enough and anything can look the same. Is TTGL the same as every other adventure story that follows closely the Hero's Journey? Of course not, and neither is KLK. Or we could roll with this kind of thinking and legitimize the claims that KLK ripped off anything remotely similiar like Sonic Adventures, Chrono Trigger or whatever.

I'll concede they weren't ENTIRELY the same but it really hit me like a ton of bricks the way they played the writing down the stretch that safe.

I thought it was a missed opportunity to do something different and really do something special rather than rehash a pretty familiar story. There's a reason you see more TTGL threads these days. (I don't even like it either)

You got cancer in your taste-buds.

>Saved anime

You know, I used to think the whole "save anime" meme was a joke, but if you really think about it, this anime just might have.

It aired at the end of 2013 into 2014. And right about 2014 until now, we've seen anime become extremely popular with normalfags with Kill La Kill being the first one.

But I guess you can make the argument that Netflix helped save anime by making it more popular/easier to consume for western audiences.

is this some sort of pasta I'm not aware of?

More like cancer of decade and the most pointless the most hyped mess of a show I ever seen.
Also it's a really shittier version of TTGL, exept it doesn't have emotional journey and impact it was trying to make.
TTGL had a theme going on and that theme was played through begining to the end, evolution and progress, never give up and all that shit.
What was the message KLK had? oh yeah, it didn't have any message, it didn't have even good old mindless action to look at, it has nothing to give two shits about.
And again, the constant dicksucking and le self reference should be stopped, I get it you like Go Nagai, but god you are not GO NAGAI, Imaishi, it doesn't make you story better just because you referenced him.

Madoka was better.

I'm sorry if you couldn't pick up the rather obvious themes and message of KLK, user. Your post is so angry and inflammatory, however, that I think arguing with you about this would be quite pointless.

Funny how Guts was Mako's dog in the anime and then five years later we find out that Guts in Berserk in Casca's dreams is represented as a dog

Unless of course there's nothing funny about it

better than TTGL but that isn't saying much

unironically this

also nice trips

wasn't trigger suppose to do another show thats a vain attempt of reliving their glory days in gainax?

KLK aired in the US together with SAO and SnK and was the least popular of the 3.

>We will never EVER get off of cascas dream.

neck yourself for making this shit thread

Are they ever gonna release a boxset of the whole series for an acceptable price?

>almost 2018
>OP is still a faggot
Like clockwork.

Thanks for the reply ;-)

says whom?

I'm not a massive fan of klk, but even if it's least popular, it's way better than those two

SAO inspired better porn

>KLK haters display nigger-like behaviour, are prone to insults and incapable of making quality posts
Like clockwork.

Not even the best anime of 2013 or even Fall.

It really was.

To be fair ryoko embracing senketsu because people with drive and dream shouldn't get embarrassed about their decisions was cool, a lot of other stuff was heavy-handed though.

DUDE

NEVER ENDING DREAM

AM I A CONSTRUCT OF THE DREAM? THE DREAMER? GRIFFITH?

WHO KNOWS IT'S ALL SYMBOLIC

Twin Peaks 3?

Tell us what was the best of 2013 and fall then. Genuinely curious.

Kyoukai no Kanata

Really liked KLK but it's far from the best anime of the decade.

Not nearly the best but I have to admit that it was the last real hype I participated in and enjoyed despite all the shitty shitposting that came during the second half and even despite those shitty waifu fags, was still pretty great, I kinda hope it will happen again with Trigger's next original (not the A1 coop, the other) or some other, non-Trigger, anime.

anime of the decade is madoka magica, thats my vote.

Kuroko no Basket 2nd Season
Hataraku Maou-sama
Chihayafuru 2
Monogatari Series: Second Season

why?

6 years later and I still rewatch it

That's some terrible taste, user.
I would have accepted Kyousougiga, as flawed as it was, but Chiayafuru is the only remotely acceptable thing out of those.

Kek

Samurai Flamenco

...

love live

This. KLK wasn’t even fun with it’s retardation while at least Samumenco doubled down on the ride.

>haha mainstream appeal anime makes my peepee hard this must be the best anime ever xD
Not even best anime of the season, I stopped watching it

>watches KLK with his brain turned off
>complains that it wasn't enough of a ironic trainwreck with epic memes to spam on Sup Forums like GORILLA XDDD
Typical user.

Other away around, I tried my hardest to find any actual worth from it but it was so fucking stupid. The part where Ryuko turns edgelord and gets Junketsu was the point where I could say it wasn’t good and the god awful final episode confirmed it. Sup Forums and Sup Forums were the ones forcing the epic memes and it was obnoxious as fuck.

Mako is god and she represents divine intervention.

You'll notice she looks a lot like Ochako Uraraka. This is no accident.

Satsuki's ass was a miracle. Too bad doujins are scarce and not very good.

>no butcha doujin with satsuki

Everyone else gave up after KLK.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA HE'S SERIOUS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

>The part where Ryuko turns edgelord and gets Junketsu was the point where I could say it wasn’t good and the god awful final episode confirmed it.
What was wrong with either of them?

kill la kill is one of my favorite anime but it's difficult for me to explain why to others
did I overrate it? i just found the entire experience fun from start to finish and appreciated the references in it

They were both so poorly paced and jarringly executed I couldn’t take any of it seriously. Perhaps forced even, for lack of better words. It’s extremely hard to take seriously. This is coming from someone that liked TTGL with a passion. That final battle in particular in space felt so fucking contrived and flat. It’s like the staff didn’t give a single fuck and not in a good way.

>That's some terrible taste

says the guy claiming KLK is the best anime of 2013

>Kill la Kill is still the best TV anime of the decade
yeah, if you're normie trash

If you thought you were supposed to take anything in KLK “Seriously” at any time you are simply an idiot.

Except KLK was unequivocally garbage.

Trigger happened

>just turn your brain off bro!

Luluco is infinitely better

When Nui showed up the show went to shit and didn't recover for a long time.

I love KLK. Most people say it’s overrated, but they just don’t appreciate the female characters. This show has some amazing female character designs. Honestly, I could watch it a thousand times and still enjoy it.

Kill La Kill is a show that revels in its utter incomprensibility and pure magical hype, and that’s a good thing. I’m not going to sit here and tell you that it’s flawless, because it’s not and nothing truly is, but as you’ve seen over the course of this rewatch, I think it’s a masterpiece in its own right. It has it’s problems like anything, but it stands up to those, looks you straight in the face, and goes “so fucking what!”. As I said in the very beginning, although it may not seem like it, with new themes/lessons every single day and crazy power ups sorta out of nowhere, this show knows what it is, what it is gunning for and doesn’t care if that doesn’t fit with you. Much like Ryuuko and Senketsu, sure maybe it’s incomprehensible to you, but that doesn’t make it bad, and that’s one of the many lessons that we learn at the end and throughout the season. That insanity is probably one of the best thing about it.

You KLKfags can’t make your minds up

Trigger making anime for males again when? The fujoshit they have been making lately have all been horrible.

to be fair I think trigger is capable of making anime that appeals to both genders equally
I'm wondering what their new anime will be like

>poorly paced
I mean the pacing of the whole show is quite fast, I don't think those episodes were any different.
>jarringly executed
What do you mean?
>Perhaps forced even
I don't think it was forced at all. She just went through a traumatic revelation about herself and her entire family, and Ryuko's actions were direct consequence of her abandonment issues and solitary personality, esacerbated by the specific situation of being lied to and manipulated through all the show, even by supposed friends like Aikuro. Her actions were understandable.
>That final battle in particular in space felt so fucking contrived and flat
How was contrived? It made logic sense to take place in space since it was about giving direct orders to the satellite controlling all the life fibers on the planet, and the dynamics of the fight such as the scissors being ineffective and the absorbtion ability were heavily foreshadowed. As for flat, the final episode was one of the few in the last arc to have solid animation all around, so I don't see it.

When will we get the next big hype again anyway?
I highly doubt Violet Garden will be something like that. Kyoani is never really hype and the show isn't original anyway so no specular, also, the characters will most likely be boring and there isn't any other big original anime the next seasons.
Franxx could be nice but I bet it will be the generic school mecha again.

Promare is my last hope for a Gainax-tier anime

>fujoshit
Stop using words you don't know the meaning of.

LWA was fujoshit?

Or maybe it's the kind of show that can be both analyzed and deconstructed, and simply appreciated at surface level because it's just fun. Like TTGL, FLCL and almost everything Gainax and its spawns have done.

>satsuki police officer will never punish you

It was an ok show that fell apart during the second half, with a really cancerous fanbase that wanted really hard for it to become the next Gurren Lagann.
Having 20 Kill la Kill threads and forcing the mods to put an sticky for every episode wasn't fun nor "epic", it felt forced since Kill la Kill wasn't really that hype.

>fell apart during the second half,
Why?

Forced hype.
The first episode had more personality than the rest of the series combined.

>Forced hype.
Can you try again without your entire argument being buzzwords?

People are retarded enough to think something being popular with the Tumblr types means it's fujoshit.

What in the actual fuck is wrong with your brain

No
I post on Sup Forums

>we never got to see Takarada's golden limotank
