Season 2 got rid of all dumb drama plot shit from S1 to focus on fun instead AND added Shinku's sexy friends to the show. It was a fucking masterpiece. S3 tried to mix both, that's why it didn't do so well. Hopefully S4 will be even more focused on fun.

Season 1 was the most absolutely perfect mix of drama and fun.
Season 2 keeps you wondering when things are going to pick up but then nothing happens it just ends and you realize absolutely nothing important happened. It was good, and it was fun, but after season 1 showed that they could do both, just having pointless fun is just plain inferior.

Basically it just got rid of all the adventure and ends up feeling meaningless and pointless. Especially the war games, since they're practiced as a precaution in case it needs to be done but then in season 2 nothing needs to be done.
Like I said though, still fun and milles better than season 3 though.

Season 3 started really strong with having the united armies of the three realms attacking the demons that have infested the dragon continent, and you would well damn believe that things were going to be very serious. It was promising to return to the also cool action that was missing from the feel-good holiday trip that was second season.
But then instead of dramatic casualties, the Flonyardens just pop back into cute puffball forms and all that tension is gone again.

One of the greatest strengths of season 1 is that things had a purpose. The wargames were games, but also training to keep the inhabitants on the edge against the demons.

I love this show so much. It's not the best thing but it is very fun.

But that's the entire point. Losing the protection of the land or goddess or something I can't remember and taking actual damage was part of S1's plot, and if they did it all over again S3 would have turned out even worse. This isn't the kind of series where shit gets real and people die, it's about having fun with animal girls fighting until their clothes come off.

Don't get me wrong, I do understand why the Flonyardians fought under the war god's protection effect. It would be seriously fucking dumb not to do so with such an immense advantage for them.
But I wish that the three armies had to do something to gain this effect. Like, I dunno, sending an elite squad to conquer a bunch of sacred shrines to activate the war god blessing, which would allow the rest of the army to fight safely as well.

This show is fking nice, it was a break from all the violence anime.

The first arc of S3 was very good for me. The whole thing with the dragons and the balance of the entire world in danger if something happened to them was intriguing, and the scenes with the three armies fighting together a real battle were neat.
