Why is Rock such scum? >Strings along and manipulates Revy using her feelings (that he's obviously aware of but does not reciprocate) >No regards for her physical and mental well-being >Gets her into completely unnecessary fights >She gets hurt seriously several times because of his bullshit >He accomplishes pretty much nothing >Screws up every time he actually has to do something himself >Thinks he's playing hero when all he is doing is sitting back and letting others do all the dangerous things >Acts like he has the moral high ground and treats everyone like they're inferior >Only time he succeeds is in some ridiculously stupid and convoluted plan that risks a lot for very little return that would never have worked without massive plot armor (the conclusion of RBT) He's a complete hypocrite and an abusive bastard, being a manipulator and a good judge of people as he's portrayed he clearly knows how Revy feels, he carefully chose his words during the shower speech in Roberta's Blood trail so he'd not express romantic interest but still keep her on her leash.
Chang and Balalaika are treated like they're double satan but they genuinely care for people other than themselves, while he completely lacks awareness of how much of an abusive egomaniacal narcissist with a Messiah Complex he is.
Noah Richardson
Wasn't he a businessman or some shit in nipland? Being a sociopath practically has to be on your resume to do that.
Liam Roberts
He's a cowardly beta faggot
Cooper Young
He's like an eunuch version of Itou from School Days.
Asher Wright
That's the only place for his character to go, he's useless in actual combat so his only growth path is to scheme and manipulate his way into becoming the leader of a faction of his own.
Joseph Johnson
Well, he'd just be pushing his head even deeper into his ass. Growth would be more like realizing he's a terrible person too for playing with the life of someone that loves him dearly to satisfy his delusions and deciding to grow up, think about what he is going to do and if action is warranted doing it himself.
Christian Cooper
So
Jaxon Baker
To be honest, the crew of the lagoon have pretty much always been literal pirates who get into fights for a living. I don't think they need mama Rock to take care of 'em.
Aaron Price
I've only seen 3 episodes of black lagoon, but this almost sounds like you're talking about something personal. Almost.
Nolan Moore
There's only three ways the story could go: he changes the city for the better, he leaves, or he gets corrupted. First option would be some unfitting fairytale bullshit, and the second option has already been explored and shot down before, so...
Zachary Rogers
I think I have rewatch or read Black Lagoon. I don't remember him nearly as bad. Sure, he's a manipulative fuck by the end, but that's kinda the point of the whole city. Either you go along or you lie dead in the next alley
Matthew Hill
I think it's just that I rewatched season 2 of BL right after watching School Days and saw some parallels. Also, I might a bit pissed at Hiroe for dropping this for bloody Re:Creators.
Well, yeah, he's a massive hypocrite, which they are not, but he certainly isn't the pure character he's treated as.
Joshua Bailey
God, Re:Creators doesn't even feel like it was written by the same guy. I'm more pissed that it was just unbearable to watch.
Zachary Thompson
I always thought it would end with him participating (but not really being the main actor) in a chain of events that would help "expose Roanapur to the sun" or whichever metaphor they used during Roberta's BT to illustrate external intervention and then he'd run away with Revy in the confusion.
Thomas Nelson
Fuck you two specifically
Caleb Jenkins
Entitled pricks
Aaron Cooper
No fuck you, explain to me why Re:Creators is any good.
Oliver Sanchez
Focus on black lagoon you dumb fuck
Christopher Flores
Dunno, there's been multiple times where it's been said that neither of them has anywhere else in the world to go and Revy wouldn't want to leave anyway, plus the plot's generally been pretty grim. They could get a happy ending but I wouldn't bet on it.
William Hernandez
we were talking about the writer of Black lagoon shithead
Jaxson Gomez
>Revy wouldn't want to leave anyway I thought it was that deep down she'd like to leave but feels she can't. But I don't think a happy ending would go against Black Lagoon, the arcs generally have happy endings, Twins and Japan arcs being the exceptions, and Twins was hopeless from the start. Black Lagoon is a lot more light hearted than people usually give it credit for.
David Scott
Seriously, can you talk a bit on why you think we're wrong?
Xavier Price
I dunno whether Rock is just using Revy but he's going to end up as crazy as Mikado in Durarara, its inevitable at this point. He's been losing his idealism with every chapter and the only reason he got involved in RBT was because Chang manipulated him.
Cooper Barnes
>Our sacrificed employee accidentally started a Yakuza-organization in Not-Bangkok. The Anime also nicely sent those Yakuza off to Not-Bangkok (which was stupid).
Matthew Hall
Well. He had to option to stay at home. Didn't he.
So by laws of (American?) Drama he's fucked.
Xavier Thompson
>Revy wouldn't want to leave anyway He could make her leave with him.
Then he just has to keep her busy by having her pop out one kid after another so that she doesn't have time to think about all those gun-fights.
Carson Green
What about RBT? Roberta accomplished fucking nothing and wound up a mangled mess. I mean it's a happy ending in the sense that she could be dead, but it's not exactly the bright and cheery kind of happy end.
James Anderson
He helped Garcia bring her back home alive, which was his intention, Roberta was raving mad from before Rasta Blasta, in the manga I think she wasn't even physically hurt. Even in the anime Rock was pretty satisfied with saving her and says so.
Carson Kelly
>in the manga I think she wasn't even physically hurt Did you read the volume-only epilogue of Vol9?
Eli Brooks
Nope.
Andrew Gutierrez
You should.
Adrian Perez
I looked but didn't find it. Is the conversation between Rock and Chang by any chance?
Isaiah Bell
Rock is basically what Mikado would have grown up to be if it weren't for the internet allowing him t found the Dollars.
Samuel Russell
Tldr
Revy is CUTE! She's too good for rock. He can have Eda.
Nicholas Gomez
Eda's too good for Rock, he can have Dutch.
Jace Foster
I kinda wish I never started reading Black Lagoon so I wouldn't have the need to sad that it's probably never get finished.
Jordan Gray
Before the Arc with the Chinese chick starts at the end of volume 9.
Landon Evans
Sorry, I didn't find it, what was it about?
Aiden Wright
Been a while since ive watched but wasnt everyone in this show pretty much scum?
Sebastian Wood
Translations fucking when I need to see my waifu out of jail
Benjamin Allen
yep, they are actual pirates, and not some robin hood types but legit criminal scum
Eli Nelson
Except they are likeable. Most of the "Good guys" are not exactly worth rooting for
Easton Martin
Altair was cool.
Aiden Foster
Yeah, but they keep pointing how Rock is an outsider that still hasn't been corrupted and that sort of thing when in fact he's just as bad as everyone else (and I'd argue in fact worse than many of the regular character in the show), except he doesn't own up to it.
Carter Wilson
He has something most people in that shithole don’t have, smarts and wits. To the point where Balalaika says if he wanted, he could be villain.
Ryder White
>they
Honestly, only Revy has held him to that standard. As seen in the most recent arc where she is helping him with the chink girl. Funny thing is, the chink girl is actually pushing Rock to sorta embrace living on the edge. And it’s not that he needs to own up to it, he had the best intentions but the end to RBT was the best possible outcome even if he became hated.
Aiden Murphy
Pretty sure he owns up to it at the end of RBT, in fact it's Revy who points it out.
