Animu is popular and if there's something good availible, people usually buy it, but there not that much supply of the good stuff, so most of animu-related content is pirated and no one cares about that. I've been to a comic book store recently and there wasn't that much Japanese stuff. I remeber seeing Death Note and All You Need is Kill + a bunch of other series, but nothing on the level of Viz translating Shounen Jump or having a bunch of completed series available in Russian.
