Is this series any good? Should I watch it or read it?

It's a decent and fun series.

Watch the anime, the mom's reasons for leaving her daughter isn't mind blowing stupid like the manga

It was good.
Cute and hot uniforms, amazing kindergarten girl, minigirls and short middle school protag with unique hairstyle.
Also fun battles.

Definitely watch. And possibly also read. I remember liking manga, but anime left a very strong impression.

It's a CLAMP series. So I would watch it unless you like noodle people.

Watch it. The anime improves upon pretty much everything. They also switched the endgame pairings for whatever reason.

The sequel was better

It was a very strong CLAMP show but not quite as good as CSS. Also timing for when it came out didn't help with lasting fan base.

One of the few times where the anime was superior to the manga.

It's a VERY typical tournament fighter anime, with the only real twist being that it's got a shoujo slant to it. I was recommended this show back in the day, and I regretted wasting the time I spent on it.

Doesn't stop the loli from winning.

Yes, it is very good. Think Hajime no Ippo mixed with CardCaptor Sakura.

I started watching this show years ago, I think I got up to the episode where the protagonist partners up with the loli. From what I watched it was pretty fun. I need to finish it one day.

No. Chobits is just set many years in the future with one loose tie to Angelic Layer.

I have no idea what Chobits is, is it worth a look?

It's a generic love story. If you like straight romance stories with a predictable ending, then go for it.

The show came out at the perfect time to ride on the success of CCS. And it did that. It was popular in Japan. However, like its manga, it was used as a quick filler show while Chobits was being made. Once Chobits came out, it got all the marketing and hype. And Angelic Layer was forgotten.

Also the fact that it was made by BONES and they never made a second season of anything back then.

It's much better than it's manga counterpart.

I liked 90's FAG.

Angelic Layer the anime is a rare case where it's better than the manga by miles.
It's a great show.
