Minorin would have been a great girl in any other series, but she wasnt competing against just some basic bitches. She just feels completely vanilla compared to Taiga and Ami.

Ami gets well deserved credit for being one of the bros (female) to ever exist in the anime, but she mostly wanted to be with Ryuuji because he didnt put up with her bullshit. They had a great connection, but its not love. She used him as an escape from her fake persona and ended up catching feelings because of that. She liked Ryuuji because he was the first guy she was ever real with, not because he was the one for her.

Taiga is the only one who truly connected with Ryuuji on a level that transcends high school crushes and drama. Watching her and Ryuuji grow closer over the course of the series is my favorite part, it just feels so natural and cute. She was the best girl, in a show where all the girls were great.

Good thing the author fixed that in Golden Time, the REAL greatest love story of all time.

I think it's important to distinguish between the girl you like the most and the one that's best for Ryuuji. I can understand why people like Ami but the inclusion of a character like her is meant to prove a point about people like her and what it truly means to be an adult for all her posturing. Hulk Hogan was right.
