>Madoka is a masterpiece due to how it subverts the lighthearted expectation of magical girl shows to be dark, unlike anything that's done before.
Signs that show someone is new to anime
>Sup Forums - Anime Fans & Meta
They make a meta-thread.
If they were asleep during the flash-forward (which by the by is a terrible story telling tactic) they really had no reason to ahve seen it coming
Madoka fancut edition is a 10/10 btw. You're welcome.
If they have never seen any other anime, they would have no idea what is going on. People exposed to magical girls at some point would understand what the show is trying to accomplish. Otherwise it’s just another anime.
You are subverting expectations by not liking this series
Why not just make a thread saying you don't like the series?
i think he was making fun of the fart-huffing intellectuals who latch on to the series because they think deconstructs the genre, and the people who believe them.
It was a dream sequence, but also a flashback, not a flash forward.
>not a flash forward.
A flash forward refers to something that happens later in the series even if it's a flashback that is shown later. It's just spoilers and done to keep people watching, that doesn't make them not awful
>Man modern anime is so shit because it has too many ecchi fanservice moe shows! Older anime didn't have any of those!
I don't see your problem with it. It was a great hook and established the tone of the series extremely well.
>I don't see a problem with it
That's because you like being insulted. You're a little beta that can't handle being treated like an adult. That's why you don't see the problem. You're already making excuses on their behalf.
See how easy it was? The "tone" of the series was supposed to shift. Giving it away second zero is downright awful. But I realize I'm not speaking to a movie maker here. So I can understand why you might not totally get just why it's a bad thing. I hope you will one day though. Better world out there for everybody and all that jazz.
I can smell the salt seeping through my monitor.
>I watch anime adaptations instead of reading the original manga
I'm spot-on though, right? Don't really know what you mean though. Some sort of teenage lingo i don't keep up with being an adult and all.
Movie 1 OP spoils far more than the flashback.
A flashback refers to a scene that shows events not in the time span of the work. The dream sequence intro is just that. Just because the flashback is shown again in the flashback episode doesn't make it a flashforward.
As I said before, it's a great hook and a great tone-setter.
The flashback saves episode 3's "twist" from being an edgy asspull and turns it into something you should've seen coming, but refused.
Movie 1 came out after the series did though?
>events not in the time span of the work
If you're not agreeing with me then whatever you just said is bullshit. I'm gonna assume you agree with me though but I didn't quite register whatever it is you said. Have a nice day.
It's in the fancut.
I know, you can skip it tho (as you should)
Weak. By that logic you could also skip the flashback.
You're just being obtuse for whatever reason. Likely >
>If you disagree with me then you're wrong
Gee wiz, aren't you a ray of sunshine.
Even if it was a flash-forward, the intro is still a great sequence. It sets up the tone, gives context to episode three, and hits hard in episode 10 when you realize it wasn't just a dream.
read >Since you love repeating yourself. You can go practice your lies to a brick wall.
You're the one who said the flashback was bad and recommended the fancut. It's obviously better but save it for the rewatch.
I stand by both of those statements.
It's only a spoiler in retrospect. Otherwise, it gives context to the tone shift in episode 3.
The latter part maybe true but modern anime is still shit.
People who shit of SoL just because it's popular then turn around and rave about the new isekai garbage and how "deep" it is.
>It's only a spoiler in retrospect
Gayest thing I've ever heard. I expect to see a timestamped picture of your film degree before I swallow any more of your bullshit. My argument is on the table.
At least isekai has some potential but almost always disappoint.
do you make movies, user?
Nice deflection. Still waiting though.
I'm honestly curious.
This argument can go lots of ways. None of which will mean anything concrete. Allow me to give you a few examples:
>Yes I make movies but not professionally
If this were the case, you'd just call me out on not being a professional movie maker so I wouldn't be able to know what I'm talking about.
>Yes I make movies and get paid to do so
There's more than one way to tell a story. Being paid to do something only restricts you.
>No I don't make movies
Still doesn't mean I can't be right. Statistically more likely to tell the truth because I would have nothing to gain from lying.
I think, as in my initial comment, that giving away the tonal shift of your story with a flash forward is inherently bad story telling. It's only done to keep brainlets hooked. So it's only done for commercial reasons. Which is not the best way to tell a story, just the most profitable way.
There. You really don't need to make movies to come to this conclusion. And no, I don't make movies.
>watches shonenshit
>watches any anime with male main characters
>watches any anime with male characters period
>doesn't have anime posters on every wall of his dwelling

>can't name fifteen reasons as to why all of them are shit
>hasn't learned nip purely through osmosis
>has any hobbies outside of watching anime

Brainlet opinions
>Madoka has complex characters
>Madoka has good character development
"I don't hate myself"
not the guy you're jerking off with, I just felt the need to chime in and let you know you're retarded. You asked for a timestamped film degree before you'd consider his opinion, yet you do not expect your own opinion to require the same thing, when you're the one who created the bizarre requirement in the first place.
>>Madoka has complex characters
who actually argues this
i usually see "decent" to "bad"
Did we hire a straightman?
And how many magical girl shows have you seen?
It's fine you don't like it.
The flashback/dream is a fantastic hook. It sets an uneasy mood from the get-go, but it's easy to still be blindsided by the tone shift. I think it's great they gave context to the the tone shift by foreshadowing it, and it's great twist that Madoka's dream was actually her past memories.
You shouldn't call people retards for not sharing your opinion, you shouldn't disregard people's opinion because it's not yours, and you shouldn't wave around your degree like it means something in an argument about opinions. You're an asshole.
>who actually argues this
people who paid attention and didn't watch the show at 2x speed
they have some depth - motivations and thoughts not explicitly stated, that require you to pay attention - but "complex" is a stretch
>It's fine you don't like it.
stopped reading there. Looks like I was right all along right fucking here > You love repeating yourself so there you go, back to the brick wall with you.
>Signs that show someone is new to anime
When they make a thread to shit on Madoka and parrot the same shit they've heard countless other contrarians say without knowing what the fuck they're talking about.
Haha, okay my friend. It was very nice talking to you! Have fun with your film degree!
Thanks for proving my point brainlet.
You're very welcome. Have a nice day.
Madoka and Homura especially were fleshed out, as we know the ins and outs of their thought process.
You don't need to be passive-aggressive man. I really don't mind. I got it right the first time around. Like always. You're the guy OP was calling out.
Remove
>masterpiece
and
>unlike anything that's done before.
and everything you said still holds true.
Apparently not since Rebellion came as such a surprise to so many people.
i mean by actual standards not seasonal anime standards
that says more about madoka fans than the show
wew
Nah, I think he's just trying to tell you he's done because you're retarded and it's a waste of his time to continue, but you just can't let him go.
> Madoka is a due to how it subverts the lighthearted expectation of magical girl shows to be dark,
brilliant
Detractors weren't any better, it says more about people who watch anime in general, if anything.
i do agree with , 2x meme crew needs to fuck off
I don't think it's very nice to presume that of someone else. But the pretending to be a third party thing is old and busted dude. If you want to call me a retard. Say it to my face. Come up with something concrete. Words are fun. Spice things up a little.
I can't say it to your face on an anonymous imageboard, this is why you're a fucking retard. Also, assuming everyone is a samefag is "old and busted". No point in being clever with a mouth breathing mongoloid.
>madoka is shit, it's nothing like my epic manly boruto and bnha
Claims to prefer subs but will still defend dubs, especially Cowboy Bebop, DBZ and Baccano's.
Everything else is pretty obvious, like mentioning Hulu/Netflix/CR, saying Horriblesubs does a shit job of TL, where does Sup Forums get their X?, replying to /u/'s AOTS threads ect.
You also seem to have the issue of taking things too literal for no real reason. Or did you think you just made some sort of witty comeback?
I've been watching anime my entire life and still like some dubs.
No, simply stated the obvious.
You also seem to have the issue of taking things too literal for no real reason. Or did you think you just made some sort of witty comeback?
Sure, there are dubs that are shit like 4kids ones but many of the ones done by Funimation are actually good and sometimes better than the sub anime. Those who say that subs are always better are cancer.
>the ones done by Funimation are actually good
I agree that there are some good dubs, but this is way too much of a stretch. There are only a few good dubs, no company has ever consistently put out good or even decent dubs.
>modern anime is still shit
Wrong. You have no idea what you are talking about.
>Signs that show someone is new to anime
Looking for newfags or caring about how long have you been fapping to chinese pornographic cartoons.
>Those who say that subs are always better are cancer.
How dare people insist that voice acting is an important artistic element of anime.
Don't pay for cool stuff with your soul
Pay for it with money - y'know, like how EVERY OTHER store in the world works?
Still better than literally the same 10 B rate actors who have been doing dubs for the last 20 years.
I don't know if it's due to being unfamiliar with the language but from the sound of it, there doesn't sound like much variety with the japanese voices. I actually heard from some people that japanese VAs imitate each other a lot ant it shows. I swear most MCs sound like either Yuki Kaji or whoever the voice of Kirito is. It often feels lacking in life and creativity.
This is all wrong. Like nearly anything ever uttered about anime in the English language.
I’ve been watching anime longer than most people here and I still think Madoka is the best anime in the world. It might just be 2deep4u
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from Sup Forums it’s that 99% of the time when somebody claims they hate Madoka it’s because they’ve never seen it or because they’re a mad Eva fan that hates the fact their favorite show has been surpassed by a 12 episode magical girl series. I’m not joking or exaggerating in any way.
A lot of the time it’s a combination of the two.
>their favorite show has been surpassed by a 12 episode magical girl series
Evangelion was massively important to anime in a way that Madoka cannot come even close to.
See what I mean guys?
()
This is an example of what I’m talking about.
No, it's not an example of what are you are talking about. It's a factual statement. It's a fact that Madoka is nowhere near as important as Evangelion. It has nothing to do with whether one likes or hates either show.
>but it's important
What does that say about the actual quality of something? Zero.
It's also one of the most popular and acclaimed anime of all time, and if nobody liked it then it wouldn't have become as important as it did.
Madoka will be far more important in the anime industry. You just don’t see it now. Eva hasn’t aged well and will not be watched or taken seriously by most people anymore unlike Madoka where the unique art style will ensure it never ages and people will continue to watch it and will become remembered as a legendary anime as they grow older. I’d argue that Madoka as of now released at the same time Eva was would have been massively more successful. Eva also way way less competition.
Evangelion's importance to anime cannot be undone, and Madoka's importance is far lesser. This is just facts.
I enjoyed Madoka Magica so much i paid $20 for this tripcode
Is madoka deconstruction of a reconstruction of discursive construction of magical girl genre?
Why are you trying to make this some kind of Madoka vs NGE debate? Fuck off.
It built two skyscrapers and rammed two planes into them.
The importance of Madoka is greater to start with.
I’m not making it into anything. I just know for a fact when people say they hate Madoka they’re Eva fans or haven’t seen it.
Not even close. It didn't revolutionize the industry like Evangelion did.
>projecting opinions that you once held onto others but can no longer stand behind because you've somehow emotionally matured by watching more japanese cartoons
>I watched less than 10 animes
>calling them japanese cartoons because you're too much of an ironic weeaboo to take anime seriously
It did the same thing with magical girl series.
>I don't like thing
What does that say about the quality of your opinion? Zero
Evangelion isn't important because it was "mecha, but DARKER." That had already been done many years ago, and even if Evangelion had been the first then it wouldn't have been a very big deal.
>being first means you're the one who gets publicity
