Just found out the anime is based on a game

>just found out the anime is based on a game
>not the other way around

Is this the only good anime adaptation of a video game?

>VN
>game

You got me there, but still. Should I play the VN first or finish the anime.

If you consider visual novels games then no it isn't the only good adaptation.

Anyone?

VN is way better. Read/Play it first. Also the art style is gorgeous.

The VN is better, but if you're enjoying the anime that's good too.

I want to like VN's by I can't, they are literally the worst medium for storytelling.

Wait for S;G Elite

Utawarerumono.

You shouldn't mislead innocent anons like that.

Eh, it depends on the story. I definitely wouldn't enjoy Steins;Gate or FSN on Light novels or just anime. On the other hand not any story can be done on VN. It really needs to be a "choice-your-story" because it's the only one that can actually do that

You should go back to r/anime.

Go play some good stuff like subarashiki hibi unlike bad ones like sucks;gate, canned

You are very silly if you think someone who doesn't like VNs would like subahibi. S;G is better than it anyway though.

is maou g senjou good ? a friend of mine recommended it as a master piece of the genre, but I played 20 hours of a really, really boring slice of life part.

I played all Rance games and enjoyed those but they have a little gameplay so that might be it.

Why is he being misleading? When am done with the anime ill give the VN a shot even though I am not the biggest fan of VNs.

Well sure is good but you need to like VN AND like the Slice of Life as a genre. VN games really are a pretty niche industry and it's not easy to find people that fully enjoy it. Maybe you should try something of a genre you like more

> VN games really are a pretty niche industry

I don't know, Persona is huge now and most persona fans enjoy the highschool stuff alot more then the actual gameplay.

Elite makes you lose the unique, eye catching original artstyle.

Well, I do enjoy slice of life I just found it boring at least til the point I played and the protagonist friend really annoying.
I don't think I can enjoy the genre like my friend does playing everything, but at least enjoy the best of it, gonna try give it a chance again later.

In no way Persona is a VN. It has a style of dialogue VN-esque but it isn't a VN.
If you want a example of popular VN now you should try Doki Doki Literature Club. Is western made and a pretty well crafted game.

I think subahibi is good example to showcase the potential of what the products of niche media are capable of that cannot come out of mainstream avenues. It's also has brilliant structure for a VN. Unlike VNs like steins;gate which only just reference concepts of philosophy or science just to look pretentious and smart, subahibi actually weaves those into narrative for making a point. It's one of the few works that approaches these philosophical themes without any ounce of pretention. Japanese media is notorious for copypasting Wikipedia articles without

>Steins;Gate is pretentious
Eh?

youre supposed to lurk for two years before posting

You are not even supposed to post here. The retarded 9 year old

I do not disagree that subahibi is good and all that, but I'm sure you understand that it's not entry level at all.
If you wanted to show why VNs are good as a medium then something that uses visuals and backgrounds for atmosphere well like Swan Song or Eustia, or something that utilizes multiple routes like Fate or Baldr Sky would be much better.

>Not recommending Katawa Shoujo as a must play for all VN newcomers

You had one job user

...

...

The original art style sucks.

Your mum sucks

>Opinion

I know this is bait but no.

It's not. The art is why I didn't read the vn.

>Unlike VNs like steins;gate which only just reference concepts of philosophy or science just to look pretentious and smart

Nigga, it's one of the more straight forward, SF time travel stories out there. It's really not pretentious at all. Unless you wanna insist going into technobabble in an SF work is pretentious.

huke hasn't release a new art book for quite some time, is he?

I think the last one was Visual Works 5. He's preoccupied with Fate at the moment.
