Fate/Stay Night:Unlimited Blade Works

>Well you see,Gilgamesh,my attacks wouldn't work against any other servant since they mastered their swords but all yours are basic so I can overcome theirs
How though? Shirou's ability is basically identical to Gilgamesh. Summon powerful swords out of nowhere(or out of the Reality Marble in this case). And Gilgamesh is hyped up as this fucking gigantic threat who shit all over Heracles. Why couldn't Shirou do the same? Were his swords not fast enough? Clearly not since they matched Gilgameshs reaction speed. Were they not strong enough? Clearly not since they neutralised Gilgamesh's Noble Phantasms. Is Shirou not a powerful enough mage? Clearly not since he's gotten tons of powerups. So why is his ability the paper with Gil being rock and everyone else being scissor when he should clearly mop the floor with them?

>secondaries

Because Gil has high ranked weapons and EA. Shirou has inferior weapons but all he needs to do is deflect Gil's.

He is also better in close combat and Gil's too proud to use EA against a human in the start

Because he's a young boy. Shirou grown up is super powerful that is able to stop the Gae Bog; Lancer's strongest attack

>rank decrease
>ass ton of mana to maintain
>limited by weapons only he has seen

Archer could beat anybody he wanted if he wanted. The timing was bad with Berserker but he could absolutely have killed him if he used UBW. Even Shirou killed Berserker.

>everyone has swords
>not having a weapon that's a gun

Why are heroes so dumb?

EM, EXCUSE ME

Shirou has swords he doesn't have literally fucking everything ever. He convinces Gilgamesh to fight him using only swords. Gilgamesh agrees because he has a huge ego and Shirou is some fucking rando he shit on like a day ago. Gilgamesh fights Shirou without any of his armor or the defensive treasures he normally wears. The fight in the visual novel is all about Shirou keeping Gil on the backfoot because he knows if Gil gets a second he will withdraw, pull out a bunch of nukes or some shit, and instantly kill him.

Shirou can beat Gilgamesh when Gilgamesh uses only swords, doesn't have time to pull out anything else, is getting a major power boost from Rin ass/dolphins, and he starts the fight by charging into close combat and pushing Gilgamesh back. No heroic spirit can do this to Gilgamesh because he takes them more seriously in fights then some random Japanese teenager who is only alive at this point because Gil felt like humiliating him.

The reason Gilgamesh is broken is because he has way more shit then just swords. He has basically every Noble Phantasm. This means that he can just keep on whipping trump cards tailored to his opponents. If he's fighting Hercules he can pull out the arrow can killed him, if he's fighting Medusa he can whip out harpe. Normally he doesn't do this and just spam fires bullshit at other servants but that means he has time to react and switch to actual tactics if they prove he needs to.

Gilgamesh has to die to a surprise attack. Usually from someone he's already defeated.

We've been over this every single day since the VN was translated.

The real question is how can shirou match Gilgamesh with his b rank str and agi? D rank is peak human and b rank would be far beyond any asspull Shirou should be able to muster.

The way that battle should have gone was Gil breaking Shirou's arms after GoB spam then watching the rest of the bloodbath.

>He is also better in close combat

lol ok

He is when he's stat boosting off his weapons.

Tracing (not regular projection as far as I understand) lets Shirou replicate more than just the weapons . Some measure of their owner's skill and characteristics are also carried over, letting him pull off basically everything he does on the fly like Kanshou and Bakuya's "secret" technique. It's also how he managed to lift Berserker's sword in HF.

Shirou gets the slightly degraded strength of the wielders of his swords. Read the visual novel. Or pay basic fucking attention to every fight Shirou gets in after learning how his shit works.

In the fight with Archer EMIYA is hitting harder then fucking Hercules with some of his swords but Shirou can keep up by taking strength from his own.

That actually isn't how it works. All his skill trace does is let him swing a weapon at the same velocity as the original wielder. It doesn't let him run as fast as Achilles or leap as high as Atalante. It just lets him, for an instant, swing a weapon at the same speed as the person who used to wield it. Even then, it doesn't let him perfectly copy any skill, considering his version of Nine Lives was clearly inferior to Heracles'.

>secondaries

...

>Shirou grown up is super powerful that is able to stop the Gae Bog

You fucking wish. Archer's just a tricky bitch. Yeah he stopped Gae Bolg, but he also lost an arm.

Shirou's only defence is plot armor, which beats anything else in a poor written story.

He went full power with Berserk in the fate route and even then he only killed Berserk 6 or 7 times. Shirou's ability might be inferior to Archer's but he's got Excalibur's scabbard in him, wich conveniently grants him regeneration, when his life's at risk.

Every other Servant can just outlast Shirou barring maybe Sasaki if they weren't confined to the gate.

Context nigger.
This is lifted straight from the VN where it was Shiro's internal monologue. The fight in the VN is understandably far less flashy. He essentially uses UBW to quickly overwhelm his GoB and get in his face to style on him.
This approach wouldn't work on any other servant since:
A: Their weapons are superior - UBW has a single rank penalty on projections - his shit would break.
B: While he saps a skill sets from projected weapons, Servants who dedicated their entire lives to mastering their shit are heads and shoulders above him and would outplay him - he could only beat Gil because he's shit and couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag.

IF he uses UBW as a spamming device he's more dangerous than Gilgameme - he spams faster, harder and better. Anyone Gil stomped would be stomped by Shiro even harder, if said opponent is retarded enough to get dragged down into UBW

He probably uses his reinforcement shit on himself

>.Why couldn't Shirou do the same?
Gil aimed at Ilya as well, making Berseker focus both offense and defense, Shirou wouldnt do that, which would give Heracles the upper hand.

>Were his swords not fast enough?
They are actually faster since they are all already summoned through the RM

>Were they not strong enough?
Yes, they are all watered down versions of the original weapons, and they only needed to deflect Gil's spam, they probably wouldnt hurt a servant like Berserker for more than 1 life and wouldnt break the defense of Caster, other classes might have some trouble.

> Shirou not a powerful enough mage?
He only was able to use UBW through very specifics events and a shared magic crest that in no other moment he had access to.

>So why is his ability the paper with Gil being rock and everyone else being scissor when he should clearly mop the floor with them?
As said above:
Berserker would eventually shrug it off since they arent as good
Caster could probably use a barrier to stop them from reaching her
Saber would EXCALIBUR trough them.
Archer has more experience
Lancer could one shot him if he was fast enough (not enough human luck to survive it, ironically enough)
Rider i forgot about what she has, so maybe
Fake Assassin? I guess he could beat him
Assassin couldnt beat him directly, but thats not his strong point, and in a normal 1-on-1 battle his sneakness would give the victory.

And honestly, Gil could also just EA to beat him easily, he just e retard cocky cunt who cant see after his pride when shit is bad for him.

>he could only beat Gil because he's shit and couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag.

Okay, seriously, this meme has to stop. Gilgamesh isn't Altria-tier, but he's not weak. He's basically an extremely talented person who never actually focused on a field. He's good enough to use just about any weapon adequately, even compared to other Servants, but he simply hasn't mastered anything. He's a jack-of-all-trades.

For instance, if we were to rank the following Servants in terms of swordsmanship, it'd be something like:
>Altria: A
>Lancelot: A+
>Okita: A++
>Kojiro, Musashi: EX
Gilgamesh would probably be a solid B. At the very least, he probably has more skill and finesse than the likes of Mordred, and he may even possibly be better than Gawain (whose main strength was just being a really tough tank). Gilgamesh can use just about any weapon adequately. He's not a master, but he gets a passing grade in everything.

>Altria

I'll stop using it when you stop getting bothered by it.

Gilgamesh owns the original versions of all the heroes' NPs. This also means he has all the weaknesses of them as well. For example, Cu Chulain Lancer has a very specific weapon weakness so Gil would win in that fight very handedly by summoning the prototype of Lancer's weakness. Another example would be the mirror that turned Medusa into stone. He would have a prototype of that.

AND then, if that shit didn't work, he literally has EA, a one shot move. Only Avalon can fight that, but thats because Avalon teleports you to another dimension instead of blocking the blast.

1.Nasu has a boner for blonde hair aryans
2.Shirou being mid-low tier japanese batman is his thing.

That's all you need to know.

Is there a stat sheet for Fate/Apocrypha?

Cu Chulainn isn't weak against Caladbolg specifically. Cu Chulainn is simply obligated to lose once to an Ulster-born warrior who's wielding Caladbolg through a Geis. Gilgamesh isn't Ulster-born, so Caladbolg is pointless.

What Gilgamesh DOES have is the Chain of Heaven.

Watch out, you are summoning Fatefags autism.

This. Him telling Saber he'll deal with Gilgamesh himself bruised Gil's ego, so he wanted to beat the Faker with his real weapons. He knew he can't copy Ea, and its humiliating for him to have to pull out Ea against a faker, hence his hesitation that costed him the fight

Kanshou/Bakuya is a owner-less weapon, that and it having properties that works well with tracing (magnetism) is why Archer favored them. Triple Linked Crane Wing is Archer's own secret technique that utilizes his strengths, the ability to create swords on the fly, in combination with the sword's characteristic to dismantle the enemy's defense. Its not something inherent to the sword like other ability trace
