They might be. In the last couple of years, DEEN produced bona fide classics such as Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu and Sakamoto (and to a lesser extent KonoSuba). They're the good boys.

To be fair it's a pretty crappy adaptation regardless, even the parts where Souichi does actually creepy shit aren't conveyed well at all.

M8 I don't know if you've realized it yet, but literally nothing Junji Ito has ever written is remotely creepy. At most it looks kinda gross, but its always delivered in the most retarded context so it ends up being funny, not scary, 9 times out of 10.

I liked what they did with Souichi, made ot comedic and from his perspective.
Makes sense to start with him and doll to show both sides of coin junji's stuff can be. Also dispelled my fears that this would be full of jumpscares.

The first episode had all the humor you could want out of Souichi; breaks the 4th wall to introduce everyone, does spooky shit, scares the piss out of everyone, and gets his just desserts in a humorous fashion. I want more Souichi, but I know better stuff is coming.
