Cardcaptor Sakura

What did you think about the first episode? I thought it captured the old atmosphere nicely.

what I loved the most was the old ost coming back

I love SAKURA CARDCAPTOR

The usage of old BGMs and voice cast really helped.

Especially when they used Hontou no Ichiban and Shopping. As well as Junko Iwao and Sakura Tange's performances.

Hoeeeeee

Having read the manga this episode felt kind of rushed to fit a bunch of stuff in. It was good though. The dragon thing in her dream being CGI didn't look as bad to me in the episode as it did in the trailer. The opening and ending are both great.

It was really good.
The entire animation was absolutely amazing, not to mention the soundtrack and obviously, the VA's.
Everything was right on point. This is how you do a continuation of a show that aired 20 years ago.

Is it me or Megumi Ogata sounded just like the old times as Yuki but waaaaaaay out of character tone as Yue?

I wish this one comes back.

And the "Hoee?" ost for Yamazaki's lies. Classic shit

Wasn't this in the trailers?

I haven't read the Manga, but does this Season also turn darker as time goes on like the first one did?

Man Im 28 years old but this reminds me when I was 14

Maybe it was just me, but I felt like Sakura should have had a bit more volition in this episode. She captured the card by herself, but it doesn't feel like she's really experienced even though she is.
It's like the show wants to retread CCS while also being a continuation and I don't think that works well. I also didn't like the more pastel color palette, but that's just a preference. I didn't like the OP as much as everyone else seems to, but the ED was great.
In all, I think it did a good job capturing the atmosphere (like OP says) and the series should be really cute. I just hope it works well as a continuation and not just a nostalgia retread.

It hasn't really yet but we're starting to get some stuff revealed about the mystery.

But user.. that's the piece for the next episodes preview. The one for the captures is "Sakura no Teema II"

The card capturing in the manga so far (I didn't read the manga originally so maybe it was the same but it's different from the anime) doesn't feel like it's retreading anything. It feels like it's going quicker than the original series to more quickly lead into the backing mystery of why the cards turned clear as well as about the new girl that's introduced.

>Fangirling intensifies
Anyone got a stiched together version of the outfit from the opening? the one where the camera moves slowly from bottom to top.

Exactly
This time around there are way more mysteries and unresolved plots than in previous seasons. And now shit's not even predictable like the Eriol or YUKIto's secrets

Considering how she literally caught the Jump card on the first chapter of the manga, and on the anime it was the third, I don't think it's weird to think they'll change things up.

Yue looks great in the anime. I forgot how much I liked his design.
And how sexual Sakura is. I hope she gets lots of cute costumes.

What?
Oh you're going by manga exclusive cards.. I guess you're right yeah..

since when sakura was such a tit monster?

I went in bracing for the worst after having other series after series revived and turning out poorly but this was wonderful. I was giddy though the whole way through and the old OST being used was excellent. Mostly, it made me feel happy again.

I didn't like how Yue doesn't seem as mysterious anymore. And that awful face isn't helping.

Yuki stuffing his face had some consequences for Yui I guess.

In the interim, China has grown stronger!

I'm going to laugh if they bothered to flashback to the airport rather than use the manga's ending but then they still leave Meiling out.

What the hell, the footage they have of the old show looks so clear. Is there a better release that looks like this out there?

This is some clever censorship

So I'm guessing they're continuing from previous anime canon? Since they showed Sakura and Syaoran at the airport instead of the bus stop. Does this mean Mei Ling will be back?!

They just released a 4k source bluray version though it probably doesn't look like that still. They do have the cels though so might have a better way of doing things to get it into this new show.

It's a mix of both that doesn't work as well as just choosing one would. The bear with wings wasn't in the original anime and it wasn't in that flashback either, it just is there because it is in the manga. It also directly retcons the second movie, which is retarded, and they would have been better off just ignoring the anime altogether and doing a direct adaptation.

Man it was great. Ever since the utter clusterfuck which was Tsubasa I was afraid whether CLAMP would completely fuck things up again.

They still have a chance to fuck it up but if the show is as good as the first episode all the way then I'll be happy.

youtube.com/watch?v=IWLYyLFy-2c
They're realeasing a 4K version, maybe that's what they used for this.

I fucking never liked the fact she got together with that little chick kid and now they're all lovey dovey. Fuck clamp

what happened to my loli Sakura, she is fucking tall now.

Rude

That's actually a design thing for the anime, which is weird. She isn't that much different in the manga.

I wish they did the new series the old school way. With 3D printing and all, producing cels should be cheaper nowadays, right? I don't care how much more expensive the BDs will end up being but it should be miles better than flat saturated digital colours.

in holic yuko said she lives with the chink

How old is she anyway, 16?

It's not that large of a time skip. I thought she was 14 but some other people were saying she's only 13.

no way, 13 or 14 max

I can't wait for the new SakuraXTomoyo doujins.

>Tsubasa

Please don't remind me.
I already got to forget that and xholic.

I guess now would probably be a good time to knock the original CCS off my backlog finally, yeah?

My name is Mike.
I am from Portland.

Fucking do it user. Don't let Sakura down!

>tfw just finished it the other day and loved it
I just hope there's no big tie in though just so the threads aren't filled with shitposting. They already are even with people just expecting a tie in.

Madison is my favorite though

She's first year of high school, so yeah, 15 or 16 depending on when's her birthday.

First year of middle school, not high school. It's only a year or at the max 2 since the original series.

She's been upgraded into JC Sakura

First year of middle school is 13. If she's just starting, I'd say 12. It depends on her birthday though but that's usually not taken into account and they round up in stories.

Anons, this is just so surreal. I can't believe it's happening!

I watched parts of the anime when it aired on cartoon network or toonammi.

Should I go through the series again or can I just jump in?

I know Sakura collect clow cards, and Syaron is her rival, her crush turns out to be a clow card but she refuses to capture him, kero turns into a lion, the smiling kid was evil and sakura can grow wings now rather than put it on her staff.

Let me know if I'm missing anything important, if I have to watch it again. Or I can start this?

it's happening user, it's happening

I love the shading and colors so much

Her crush is another being like Kero, not a card. And she manages to turn the fly card into wings on herself rather than on her staff. The dub you watched was pretty butchered.

just watching man, knowing that won't make you love the characters

>Tomoe
So that's where Mami's surname came from.

>And she manages to turn the fly card into wings on herself rather than on her staff.
Yeah sorry that's what I meant.

>Her crush is another being like Kero, not a card
My bad it's been years.

WATCH IT ALL, FAGGOT
AND THEN WATCH THE MOVIES SO YOU CAN ENJOY A GOD DAMN HEARTWARMING FINALE
DISREGARD TSUBASA CHRONICLE/EXTENDED CLAMP UNIVERSE BECAUSE CLAMP KILLS SAKURA IN ORDER TO SEND A CLONE OF HER SON SYAORAN JUNIOR (WHO LOOKS JUST LIKE HIS DAD) TO AN ISEKAI WORLD.

Just watch it. You're missing a lot of details like how Mei Lin got rejected hard.

...

I'm watching this to get over devilman

Syaoran is also her boyfriend in Clear Card

I still haven't had anyone tell me where (CCS) Sakura supposedly dies. Because nothing like that happens in Tsubasa.

Can I watch this even if I haven't seen anything before?

And the premise sounds stupid. As if they were trying to milk the franchise.

I can't wait for the explosion of Sakura x Tomoyo doujin in this year's Comiket, assuming Abe don't banhammer it.

You shouldn't but I suppose it's possible. There's more card capturing but it doesn't feel like milking at all. And I like the characters so having more stuff with them is still good.

It's a direct sequel so no.

I personally think they only decided to do this again because of the rise in magical girl series due to Madoka Magica. This wasn’t really needed and the budget would have been better spent on a different and original anime in my opinion.

I'll skip it then.

Can always read porn without watching the show.

>I watched parts of the anime when it aired on cartoon network or toonammi.

missing literally about 40 censored unaired episodes.

Thank WB's 4KIDS from back in the day.

>Can I watch this even if I haven't seen anything before?
It would be quite difficult to understand. There's also an important anime-only character.
>And the premise sounds stupid. As if they were trying to milk the franchise.
Japan is a capitalist country.

>This wasn’t really needed
YOU FUCKIN HERETIC!

There's an OVA?
youtube.com/watch?v=jVYMWxrhoE8

Don't lewd my daughter.

It's just an animated version of the end of the manga. No idea why they did it though since the new anime isn't continuing off of it and has its own continuity.

Well it wasn’t. I’d rather see something else besides an old magical girl series that isn’t really anything special besides holding nostalgia value. You’ve got to admit you’re not actually going to enjoy this series for anything else.

Do I have to watch Holic and Tsubasa before this?
How do they stackup with CCS?

So far it isn't tied in with it so not really. I really liked Tsubasa though, but lots of other people hate it.

Definitely not. God please no.

You can just watch this but if recommend watching something worthwhile on your backlog. Try watching Tsurezure Children. You’ll have so much more fun.

What a garbage opinion. The world would be better with less of its kind.

Are Yuki and Toma fucking yet?

>Do I have to watch Holic and Tsubasa before this?
Fuck no. Anyone who tell you to do so is not your friend.
>How do they stackup with CCS?
Not at all.

Can you honestly say to yourself that you’re going to watch this new CCS and actually and truly enjoy it?

>You’ve got to admit you’re not actually going to enjoy this series for anything else.
No I don't.
What I do admit to is being curious about what these to fucks are up to.

How much until Tsubasa crossover begins?

Yes, I can honestly say that because I genuinely love the characters (even that Nakuru thot).

I'm already 19 chapters into the manga and am enjoying it. I like the characters so you'd probably call that nostalgia even though (besides a few episodes of the dub when I was like 8) I only just watched the original series a couple months ago. And I am interested in where the story goes. They've set up something beyond the card capturing in Clear Card.

It's already begun

She is starting 7th grade in the first episode of the anime and her birthday is April 1, so it means she is 13-years-old.

How much until Code Geass crossover begins?

Madoka came out seven fucking years ago, it has nothing to do with CCS getting a reboot. There's a few old series in different genres getting reboots/sequels, too. Studios are just aiming for the nostalgia audience right now.
>This wasn’t really needed and the budget would have been better spent on a different and original anime in my opinion.
No, fuck you. The OVA and this first episode were great, I have hope for this. Replace something that's gotten way too many seasons/sequels like Fate or Monogatari for new and original stuff.

Touya.
And yes.
Even in the old series (EP 66) Yukito states that Toya is his "number one"

>spoiler
Please God, no.

She is always the oldest girl in her class since her birthday is on the first day of the school-year cut-off (4/1), so she is 13 for the entirety of grade 7 until she goes to grade 8.

Bretty gud OP and ED, and mad props for keeping the VAs from the original series. Looking forward to Saturdays from now on!

What’s so exciting about it? I’ve watched the original and I can’t comprehend why anybody would watch a series like that with modern anime available. It’s really not that exciting or deep in anyway. Even the fights are low stakes and boring most of the time.

Lies.
There are no hints of Tsubasa getting in the way.
